Hello Marie! Thank you for this recipe. I made this for myself and daughters. We have 3a/b and 4a/b curls. This worked very well for us. I doubled the oil portion; swapping coconut oil for the argan oil. I used Honeyquat instead of cetrimonium chloride as that was what I had on hand. For my daughters I used it on freshly washed and conditioned wet hair. Their hair drank it up! I used it on my dry frizzy hair as I was way past wash day and It really hydrated my hair. The scent was amazing even though I did not have the Cognac. I conditioned our hair with the Monoi Conditioner you posted a while back.

Ooh I'm glad you commented! I have 3b hair and wondered about using this on curly hair. How much slip does this conditioner provide? I'm on a quest to DIY and replace my favorite Kinky Curly Leave-in.

@@35ATeacher I actually like the slip it has by itself. If you don't mind silicones then adding dimethicone would work well. I have added it to the Monoi de Tahiti Hair Conditioner that Marie has on her website. For a more natural slip try broccoli seed oil. It really has a nice slip! Kinky Curly Knot today has marshmellow root in it. Maybe you could play around with adding some to the water portion. Hmmm... Ideas!!! Okay so you know how you make Flaxseed gel by boiling and straining? You could use marshmellow root the same way to extract the "mucus" and sub that for a portion of the water! I think I will try this out myself this evening. I will let you know how it comes out!

@@roki5337 Yes please do! I make my own styler with flax seeds, guar gum, marshmallow root, slippery elm, a few oils, and BTMS, however it needs more conditioning properties. Maybe I can combine her leave-in recipe with mine to make an all-in-one styler/leave-in? Also, when you said you doubled the oil portion, did you double the BTMS too?
@roki5337

@@35ATeacher I would add HoneyQuat that stuff is amazing! Helps with Frizz too. As for the BTMS I did not want mine to be too thick; I really wanted leave in conditioner consistency so I only added .25% more. It was really soft and light going on and dried quickly but left my hair feeling very moisturized and protected.

Hi, would there be a difference if I use glycerin instead of sodium lactate? Is there also a reason why cetyl alcohol was not added to the ingredients? I always see it being paired with btms 50 😬. Thanks!

As long as the INCI is the same, there isn't a difference.

Excellent video Marie. Made my conditioner and it turned out great. I used 30% neossanse and 60% rose hydrosol. You are so inspiring. Where do you buy your spatulas? They are amazing and I can't find them.

Thank you Marie. Quickie question. I made two batches and they separated. Would that have anything to do with the temp I added the germall preservative? It was room temp when I added the cool down phase.

Marie you forgot to add sodium lactate in your video description

I was looking at the blog and couldn't find it but it was mentioned in the description and the substitutions. So I came to the video. Edit: go to 2:58 2 grams of sodium lactate.

Probably 2 % since that is what would make it 100%.

I have used it on both wet and dry hair. Freshly washed hair -sinks right in. Dry hair way past wash day - instant hydration.
