Excellent Numa. I've been using 6 mm sheet foam (Orange County California) for several years (after 40 years before that using hot wire foam). I picked up lots of tricks watching your video. Thank You so much for putting this video together. I find sheet foam makes a pretty nice airfoil without ribs; just the spar. I scribe a notch in the foam on the inside of the leading edge, but I'll try your straight edge method. I didn't know you can use an iron on packaging tape. I'll try that. I use 64th ply a lot to strengthen extended sheets of foam and 1 cm strips on the surface of the wing to make the flange part of a spar.
@quadflopper1012
4 жыл бұрын
what store are you buying the 6mm foam from and what is it originally used for, all we have at home dumpot where i live is that thick pink insulation crap which works great if you want to do the whole airfoil thing but that's way too much work and takes way too long.....

You need to invest in one of my man’s adjustable hot wire saws for cutting poly foam, and plastics, it can cut wing profiles, duplicate contour and scaled reductions ( all depending on individual setup ) complete component cuts with one pass, and produce 100% factory quality slightly hardened or heat tempered surfaces (similar to shipping foam surfaces or the finish on an epf toy) no sanding, he can also show you how to make it.

@greg0063
4 жыл бұрын
You can fly a 3d heli?! You almost have this plane thing down. Wings are easy to fly once tuned especially with the center of gravity. The only drawback for a beginner is that they don't return to level by themselves like a proper trainer type plane would. I would suggest trying out a plane on a simulator and learning it. Then get a trainer. But if your like me and want to start with a wing (I did haha) get an EPP wing TekSumo set it up light and start flying, you will crash alot but it should hold up very well. I'm still flying my original after many crashes and repairs and it's still a great flyer. Good luck!

@@terranovarain2183 it might be possible but unfortunately not probable. That radio has the dip switches under that front panel correct? You might be able to position them so the servos are mixed. This would be a long shot though. You need an elevon mix for a wing to fly properly. A modern computer radio will have it in there as a preset and it is easy to do. It also makes it easy to tune as far as expo and throws.
