Well, here's just a simple way of making fresh Basil tea, especially when the basil is in season.
Let food be thy medicine.
I'm loving this tea.
Did you know?
A traditional Ayurveda belief is that basil improves overall immunity when taken on an empty stomach.
How many times a day can I drink it?
However, incorporating a few leaves of fresh basil or a teaspoon into your daily meals is generally considered safe. It's worth noting that basil contains essential oils, such as eugenol, which contribute to its aromatic flavour.
Pour boiling water over basil leaves and let steep for 20-30 minutes (the longer you let it steep the stronger the flavor). Strain basil leaves out of the tea. While the tea is still warm, add honey to taste. Add lemon juice, to taste.
Can I drink it at night?
Basil, also known as Tulsi or Ocimum sanctum, is another favourite calming herb. A member of the mint family (Lamiaceae), Holy Basil has also been called “The Incomparable One” and the “Queen of Herbs.” Holy Basil can be a nice addition to a routine that sets you up for a good night's sleep.
Here's to our health!
Let food be thy medicine.
