that's more music theory than it is technical execution... but my suggestion is basically use the four bar structure, or two, or whatever you use for your rythym section, and play your harmony and melody against it straight into the recorder. this is gonna take some trial and error and composition skills, but if you're looking for the Kendrick Lamar jazzy sound, like I said it's gonna take some composition and music theory skills to really develop that. sometimes the fluidity of jazz clashes with the structure of hip hop.

Legalize Humans not plants. Build Bridges not walls. Sometimes it is better to have straight to the point tutorials, but with this longer ones you learn a lot more than you even expected before clicking on it. Maybe a quick resume at the end would be a good idea as well.

Those rolls are very synthetic. To make rolls more realistic you need to make many parameters variable.Decay, resonace, pitch, room effect on various notes. This is why software such SSD or Modern Drummer have humanize parameters and few samples recorded for one sound. Better result would be run any drum pads and set different sample values.

Dunno why but I wanted to only make a comment on the machine gun part. You were close with the explanation of the noise. Its the firing pin hitting the primer on the bottom of the bullet casing and the primer igniting the gunpowder inside the casing, shooting off the bullet. Essentially that sound is a small explosion in the bullet casing which propels the bullet forward. Sorry I am a gun nut and always love to teach people new things about guns that they don't know. Better educated then uneducated or misinformed I guess haha.
