How To Make Hockey Puck, now this is a genuine DIY video guide to create a movie accurate toy replica - PART 1.
I have always longed for good mass produced 'Hockey Puck' replica to be released by one of the major manufacturers but it just never happened. Hockey Puck's appearance in the first Toy Story movie was brief, but memorable.
Although I started this project a long time ago. I am still not finished. This is such a simple character and has been completed in the past by other enthusiasts in clay or foam. I totally respect what they have done however I wanted something that felt real, something that could be played with!
If you wish to complete this project exactly the same as I have, then you will require the following materials:
A cheap hockey puck (the one's I used in this video are less that £2.00 on eBay) I find the cheaper the better as they do not have any branding on them.
X2 - Mr.Potato Head arms.
A length of black electrical cable (I used a computer power lead as it was substantial.
X1 - Spray can of Plastikote Fast Dry Enamel - Sunshine Yellow (for the hands).
2" width of car number plate tape (dark grey or black).
Tube of U-POL Black Tiger Seal PU adhesive to perminantly attach the arms and hands.
x1 - Spray can of Plastikote Fast Dry Enamel - Insignia Red (for the hockey sticks).
Then the following tools:
Sharp side cutters.
Rotary tool (like a Dremel).
A very sharp blade (ie. Stanley blade or simular).
Access or use of a 3d printer. Sadly I only have the .gcode files from this project, these will still be usable but I no longer have the development files that I mode.
Masking / painters tape.
Drill with various bit sizes.
A very fine sandpaper / wet & dry.
To download the 3D printer files, please see the link here: drive.google.com/open?id=1McM...
There will be a part 2 to this video as soon as I have come up with a solution for his boot's that I am happy with. I have so far struggled with adapting another toy's shoes, 3D printing & making them from clay. All of them have lacked that shop worthy quality that I am aiming for so far.
If any of you take this project on, please take the time to post your results here. I am genuinely interested. Oh, and I know I kept saying 'Puck' rather than 'Sticks' during the video.
