How to use a hydrogen gas generator to produce explosive bubbles!
Hydrogen bubbles are produced by the single replacement (displacement) reaction between zinc metal and hydrochloric acid. The bubbles can be used in several ways to demonstrate the combustion of hydrogen in the presence of oxygen.
They can be exploded in the hand (as long as your hand is wet!), on the surface of the beaker, or by releasing them and letting them float upwards into an ignition source.
