How to make Japanese coffee jelly with soy caramel sauce. this is cold vegan dessert recipe using agar agar powder. in this video, I explained how to use agar agar powder.
Coffee, soy milk and caramel are good matching. easy to make and nice fravour.
easy to make, can be a good summer dessert for vegan or non vegan.
【Ingredients】
2tsp agar agar powder
4tbsp sugar
2tbsp instant coffee
500ml hot water
(or strong brewed coffee)
SOY CARAMEL SAUCE
3tbsp sugar
100ml soy milk
TO FINISH
soy milk or soy cream
【method】
in a small bawl, mix agar agar powder and sugar.
agar agar is easy to be lumpy when mix with liquid, to avoid this mix with sugar.
in a medium pot, make strong coffee.
take one ladle of coffee and cool down to room tempture.
add the agar agar sugar, mix well to dissolve.
then back to the pot of coffee.
now agar agar need to be cook.
just dissolve, agar will not be set.
bring the coffee to boil and reduce the heat, simmer for 2 minutes. agar need to be cook properly.
remove from heat and cool down bit.
pour the coffee mix to the mould or glass while the coffee is still hot.
agar start to set at 40℃.
let it stay at room temperture for 15 to 20 minutes to cool down and put in the fridge and chill.
SOY CARAMEL
in a small pan, place sugar and make it flat.
slowly dissolve the sugar over medium low heat. whan the sugar turned dark caramel colour, add soy milk. keep stir and cook for 1 minute.
remove from heat and transfer to a bawl, cool down and chill.
