Only someone who doesn't know music theory would use that 2nd chord. You straight up have a C minor on top of a C major, as well as both a perfect and augmented 5th.... could not be more wrong, and yet it sounds good. Good example of not letting theory get in the way of good vibes.
@josiah566
2 ай бұрын
in context it makes sense - the first chord is a Dbmajor as a IV, so the whole thing is in Ab Major. WHen it dips down to the C chord, that's just a III in the key of Ab, which is C minor, but adding the natural E is fine because C major and C minor BOTH lead well as a V to the Fminor chord afterwards. If the C was the I chord, the E/Eb would make a huge difference because its function is different - in that case C is supposed to be home. But in this case, C only needs to lead us home to F minor.
