I binged watch so many of your videos. I love the idea of sunflower seed as flour as its so much cheaper than almond flour. I am going to try this recipe now with gelatin instead of egg whites, hope it turns out. I'm also adding yeast just for the flavour. I cannot wait to see the desserts you come up with using sunflower seed flour. Thank you for all the wonderful hard work you do and for sharing it with us! Msia Boleh!

My oven runs hot, but it still took 90 mins to fully bake. I weighed all the ingredients, and 27 g of ground psyllium husk is far more than 3 tbsp ( that must have been 1/4 cup at least! ). I used the pre-weighed amount of 27 g and added it a tbsp at a time until dough was right consistency . I ground my own sunflower seeds, and although it certainly wasn't like 'flour', it produced a light, soft slice, which tasted amazing. I'll definitely be making this again....even though ingredients are not exactly cheap here in Canada.

Hi so you have mentioned to add psyllium husk little by little. Do you mean to add it after adding wet ingredients? Can you explain more on that please and do you prefer to add half of psyllium husk, I have very fine psyllium husk powder that I bought from Amazon. Thanks
@vigour09
3 жыл бұрын
Hi I tried this with home made sunflower seed flour. I have used only 1/2 the amount of psyllium husk powder as I always get my breads very dense and uncooked in the middle. So I baked the bread 1. The loaf rises and fell down in the middle with a big X in the middle(corner to corner).2. I used egg whites.3. Even after baking for 1.5 hrs middle was still uncooked. I wrapped the loaf pan with aluminum foil to see if that helps cook the inside part. Please advise what to be done. I want to bake this again
@lowcarbrecipeideas
3 жыл бұрын
That is very likely caused by too much psyllium husk. If you are using pre ground psyllium powder, only a small amount like 1 to 2 tsp is needed as it is super fine. Start with 1 tsp and mix with the hot water. During mixing, if you find the dough is too runny, then add another half tsp and mix again. It's fine if the dough is soft as you dont need to shape it like buns. I have made loaf bread with just 1 tsp of psyllium powder as shown in this video (see link) and it turned out fine. Even at 1 tsp, the bread feels stickier and slightly crumbly compared to the bread using self ground psyllium husks. That's why self ground psyllium husks is better for baking. Please watch the linked video to understand better about psyllium husk and powder for better results

Continuation….even though ACV was used to prevent this interaction. How did your bread come out so golden tan if you used all the same ingredients I used for the buns. The buns are delicious but not an appetizing color.
@lowcarbrecipeideas
2 жыл бұрын
Sunflower Seeds reacts more to baking soda and to a lesser extent with baking powder. As it has chlorophyll which is alkaline, it can be neutralized with the acid from ACV. I used Bragg ACV and never have any problem. One of my subscriber who used Bragg also didn't have any problem until she changed the brand then there was a reaction so the bread looks greenish. She's trying to switch back to Bragg so we will know whether that's the problem. I have experienced using another organic ACV brand and didn't have any problem. It may be the ACV but I am not 100% sure about it.

Can you make pasta out of Sunflower seed flour?
@lowcarbrecipeideas
2 жыл бұрын
I think you can. But it's easier to roll the dough if you use store bought ones as they are super fine because the fat content has been squeezd out and sold separately then they grind the leftover cake to brcome flour. Home ground ones can't be very fine due to the fat content so over grinding will turn it into butter. Hence there will still be some chunks.
