Exactly. But how many % add to this shoe mixture ?
@fookingsog
10 ай бұрын
@petrklic7064 is probably best to keep the formula as simple as possible!!! I'd probably (personally) try Beeswax & Lanolin with a bit of turpentine to assist with the blending process. I'd most likely start with 3 parts beeswax, 1 part lanolin, and a bit of turpentine for blending. All of these items are natural. I just made another mixture for waxing canvas that consists of: 8 Oz. of beeswax, 8 Oz. of paraffin wax, 2 Oz. of boiled linseed oil and 2 Oz. of turpentine. It's kind of a semi-paste wax when squeezed or pressed. I will use a flexible blade and a hair dryer (or heat gun) to saturate canvas with. Should also be good for sealing wood as when the turpentine evaporates and the boiled linseed oil dries, it should well be locked into the fibers of the canvas or wood!!! I thoroughly believe in the K.I.S.S. principle..."Keep It Simple Stupid". Absolutely no reason to over-complicate things where the simplest straightforward answer is usually the best!!!

I found out about saddle soap back in the 90’s when I was trying to find a reliable way to clean flies, bugs and the yellow custard mess things that splatter over your motorcycle race suit whilst riding hard in the country during the summer. Can’t remember who recommended it but I bought a huge bar of the stuff at a horsey shop and it worked wonders! 😮 never looked back, and cleaned countless leather jackets, trousers, boots, and even sofas with the stuff. For a balm I use Renapur which is an English product and extremely good, although when I run out it’ll be the home made route due to rising living costs.
