I just made it and love it! My oil blend was hemp seed oil, sweet almond oil and apricot. The FO I used is Oatmeal, Milk & Honey from Fragrance Buddy & 1 tsp 24k gold mica from Natures Garden. I poured my mix into a large pyrex glass measuring jug which made filling my jars easy. Thank you!

I use a whisk to add the oils/EO-FO/Preservative to the sugar first - to moisten it without having to worry about the waxes thickening and clumping it. Then I add the melted butters and waxes and whisk again and it doesn't clump. A canning funnel with a 1/3-1/2 measuring cup as a scoop - it fills the jars super-fast and doesn't make a mess. The rim stays clean and dry. Thank you so much for sharing the recipe. My first batch came out perfect. I use small amounts of colored clays to give the mixtures a color to compliment a fragrance.

Ellen, should we be worried about destroying properties when melting the hard butter? I make my scrub in a crock pot, I melt the butters and waxes on LOW, then add the rest when it's cooled down considerably. Even on low it got to about 190 , maybe I should melt in a double boiler. Have you temped the butters coming out of the micro?

I just finnished making a batch of coffee scrub yesterday! I actually make a lotion base first then add my sugar. I do use distilled water in mine and enough waxes to make a rather thick cream then add my exfoliants. I just find this makes a creamy product without it being so stiff in the jar. Most recipes I've tried with just waxes, butters, oils are really hard to spread on the skin evenly. I see you start out by adding water and rubbing between your hands. I do my body scrubs this way on occasion. However, my facial scrubs I start with a cream base always, as I want that easy spreadability! I hope all that made sense, lol! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Our family got together, after cleaning up the wreckage with my daughter, I'm watching the Thanksgiving videos! Yeah, yours was one! Now on to "Black Friday" shopping tomorrow, lol! So had to get the great videos in tonight! Jill

Just until melted, it's not a specific temp.

Happy thanksgiving Helen, one suggestion, when making my scrubs I use the pitcher with spout to fill the jars. It’s easier and less messy
