Pulled Pork
Ingredients:
Pork Shoulder or Pork Butt
Mustard
Braising Liquid of Choice (We used Coca-Cola)
Liquid Smoke
Your Favorite BBQ Sauce
Brown Sugar
Salt
Black Pepper
Garlic Powder
Onion Powder
Cayenne Pepper
Smoked Paprika
Ground Mustard
Ground Cumin
Chili Powder
Dried Thyme
Dried Oregano
Directions:
Dry Rub
1. In a bowl added 1/2 cup brown sugar, 2-3 tablespoons of salt, 1 tablespoon black pepper, 1 tablespoon garlic powder, 1 tablespoon onion powder, 1/2 tablespoon cayenne pepper, 2 tablespoons smoked paprika, 1/2 tablespoon chili powder, 1 teaspoon dried thyme, 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano, 1 teaspoon cumin, and 1 tablespoon liquid smoke. Combine the ingredients.
Pork:
2. Score the pork.
3. Cover pork with mustard.
4. Evenly coat pork with the dry rub. Pat the rub on do not rub in. The amount of rub needed may vary depending on the size of the pork.
5. Wrap the pork in plastic rap and refrigerate overnight.
6. Unwrap the pork and place on a wire rack. Bake at 250 degrees for 4 hours or until the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees.
7. After 4 hours remove the pork from the oven. Transfer to the pork to a Dutch oven.
8. Cover the pork with 1 full bottle of coca-cola or the braising liquid of your choice. Add the leftover drippings from the pan.
9. Cover and bake for 3 hours or until the internal temperature reaches 203 degrees.
10. Remove the pork from the oven and allow it to rest for 45 minutes to an hour.
11. Remove the bone.
12. Shred the pork.
13. If you would like, add your favorite BBQ sauce.
14. Enjoy.
