Onion - 1 large
Octopus - 1 (2.5 lb)
Small white potatoes - 5
Coarse sea salt - 2 tbsp
Garlic - 6 cloves, crushed
Bay leaves - 3
Cilantro- 1 bunch, roughly chopped
Black pepper - ½ tsp, freshly ground
Olive oil - 300 mL

Polvo à Lagareiro is a super popular Portuguese octopus dish. The preparation is relatively simple; essentially, just octopus and potatoes, first boiled and then baked in olive oil with garlic. I simply love octopus, and this dish is genuinely delicious. Please avoid adding salt to the octopus during the boiling step - it would harden the skin. This dish has so much flavor and the smell, while it was in the oven, was just incredible. My family thoroughly enjoyed this Portuguese dish. We will surely repeat - 😋 Highly recommend!
