I still primarily use my iPhone for video. I’m approaching 16K and 2.8 Million views on this channel. This video is spot on. I do have some better cameras, but a lot of what I do will ruin them, so I avoid using them. I have a decent mic setup when I need it. I actually have bout several and now have a lav mic that is wireless. Best decision.

Good points for beginners. So important to JUST GET STARTED. Another tip regarding the instant tripod at 3:59 Use the back camera, not the front. It might take a few tries to get it lined up perfectly, however, it will help you look at the camera lens and not yourself.

@GordonMullan
4 жыл бұрын
If you get the Boya one they recommended, yes, provided your phone accepts TRRS (just Google it for your phone). Recent iPhones, Galaxys, etc., do (I use exactly that mic with my Galaxy S9+). The Boya has a setting to work with camcorders and DSLRs as well, which is why it's a fab affordable choice. I did this video to show it: facebook.com/gordonmullan/videos/10156770154212373/

What do you recommend for a teleprompter? I've been wanting to sometimes see my script and I've bought some apps for my iPhone that have teleprompter. I find I can't get through my message without looking a little forced or like I'm reading. I wish I could record with my phone with a script on my computer but then I keep looking down at the text and it's a lot of editing to remove all that. Any tips?
@GordonMullan

Use bullet points, and record in short segments so you're not trying to memorise (or read) long passages. You'll be much more natural without a teleprompter.

Hey Sunny, great video, one thing that you might want to mention is to sit square to the camera so that the lines in the background are level, first half of the video was a bit askew. Learning a lot from your channel, Thank you and keep up the great work!

Hey Sunny, loving all your vid`s...just to let you know your second link for the mic`s is actually to a Supportiback® Deep Tissue Therapy Massage Roller - could you post the name of the other mic. Also, what if you`re doing demonstration videos say in the kitchen? What type of mic then? I am not finding it easy to locate an inexpensive wireless? I would also love to see a video on how to shoot a demo video on your own (I am showing people how to make fermented drinks).

I've come to my own conclusions about stacking things (boxes, books, gallon-sized paint cans - basically anything large enough to do the job!) to boost the level of my iPad or phone, but then I'd put a heavy enough water bottle in front or behind it (depending upon the angle I wanted it to be at) to hold it up, but without blocking the lens. I never thought about putting my laptop there to then hold the ipad or phone. Duh. How simple, but it never crossed my mind! I do use the front camera and have trained myself to look at the lens so it looks like I'm talking to the viewer and not off to the side. It seems to just make it so much easier and efficient to frame myself well by doing this. I'd tried a few times to hone in on placement using the the back-facing camera and would actually manage to deliver well-spoken material only to then find I wasn't framed well at all and had to trash the footage. Then I wasn't able to deliver the talk as well again. This happened a few times so I stopped attempting to do it that way. Sometimes ease and speed just make getting into the habit of making videos consistently more doable than failure after failure in footage capture.

What can you use to edit a video on a pc? Everyone in the States uses Apple, but in Europe we mostly use pcs. What can I use to edit my videos? Do you have a good inexpensive tripod suggestion for my Cannon 700DS? Also, which mic is best for someone just starting out? I saw your video on making videos. 😁 💜 It was helpful.
