Loaves 2
Flour (Cups) / lbs - King Arthur All Purpose or bread flour 5/ 1.6
Water (Cups) 1 3/4
Yeast - Fleischman’s dry active 2tsp
Salt 1tsp
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
1. Pray.
2. Warm mixing bowl with hot water prior to adding ingredients; empty when bowl is hot
3. Pour desired amount of water in mixing bowl (water should be warm)
4. Add yeast to water - mix well - add a teaspoon of Sugar & mix well - Sift desired amount of flour into mixing bowl with yeast/water.
5. Add salt on top of flour - DO NOT stir - Let flour sit on water for 15 min.
6. Mix ingredients (by machine or hand) for 10-12 min. Dough should be soft. It will be dense.
7. Cut dough into desired number of loaves - kneed loaves into balls- place loaves on parchment paper on baking sheet.
8. Seal the loaves using a σφραγίδα (stamp) -poke holes in the eight outer corners of the cross, and the four inner corners of the cross with a toothpick or fork.
9. Cover loaves with a towel and set near oven.
10. Let the loaves rise for 30 min. (be careful that the seals do not disappear). Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
11. Bake loaves at 365 degrees for 30 min. until desired color. Let loaves rest before wrapping in plastic.
12. Pray this works!
