We have everything dry fit for now, so we're getting ready to glue!
Before we start gluing, I like to protect my work area with a piece of cardboard as well, and we always make sure that everything fits nicely and is clean. I can't stress this enough! Always wipe down every piece before you glue it up.
I recommend using some primer before applying the glue. Once both pieces are primed and glued, give it about a quarter turn to ensure you get a good seal. Although it will set pretty quickly, wait at least 24 hours before you turn on your water.
I like to start with the manifold (closest to the water source) and then work my way down the line all the way to the emitters or sprinklers. Because you have already laid out all of your pieces & connections, you're just double-checking things as you progress.
Speaking of connections, let's check out a couple different options. Because this yard has both a lawn as well as vegetable beds, we need to link up PVC with tubing.
Again, we've made sure we have all of the correct pieces, so your prep work ahead of time will make all of the difference. Drip tubing doesn't need as much water pressure, and you can usually just rely on friction instead of glue.
If you are using sprinklers, you will continue to use primer & glue. Here, it's important to make sure your threaded connectors are pointing in the right direction. By using a nipple with tape on both sets of threading, you will have a clean & secure connection.
