Wow. Two days in a row you nailed it for me. Really missing my mama and her favorite flower was lily of the valley but when she was passing away I asked her if she was afraid and she said her only fear was that people would forget her. I reassured her that forgetting her was not even in the realm of possibility. For her memorial I created her memorial cards using forget me not seed packets. ❤ thank you for sharing how to make these.

I just started quilling today for the very first time and I decided to do it with you! I love your tutorials as you explain everything so well. My first project is this with the forget me not flowers. My petals are not showing the details as yours do, I guess I am stretching the paper more than I should, so I’ll keep practicing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

First I’d like to thank you for being such a great teacher! I’m very new at quilling and bought a basic kit. I see you always use a needle instead of the slotted tool. I’ve tried to use a needle, but I can’t do it. The paper just slides around. How do you get the paper to stop sliding when using the needle? The main reason I ask, is because sometimes I have a had time getting the paper off the slotted tool without the center popping out. I hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance!
@ThePaperyCraftery
2 жыл бұрын
Most of the time you can use whatever tool you are most comfortable with. There are certain projects that will only work with one tool or another, but I will always mention that and why it's the case in those videos. As far as using a needle tool, you really have to use your hand that isn't holding the tool to apply some pressure to the quilling paper as you're rolling it. The needle tool itself doesn't do the work, as opposed to the slotted tool. The paper can still move around on a needle tool and I like to push it to the base of the needle tool every so often to get my coil even again. If your center is popping on a slotted tool, try rolling slower so your coil stays even and also using a thicker quilling paper may also solve that problem. I hope that helps!

Love this tutorial as I do all of yours. Two questions..1)why are you using two different types of glue on this one ? 2) why don't you glue strips together end to end before quilling when using two colors ?
@ThePaperyCraftery
3 жыл бұрын
I like to only use white glue when I'm working on my quilling comb because it's easier to control. Tacky glue works better for times when you need something to stick fast, like when curving the petals and using the clamp. I do sometimes glue strips together to make longer strips of the same or different colors (you'll see that in a lot of my videos, especially when making 3D quilling) but I like to mix it up and show different ways to do things sometimes. The flower centers will work just fine if you glue your strips together first 🙂

This is so sweet. I love forget- me- not's. Please could you tell us how you keep your very fine glue pot nozzle clear, every time I leave my pot alone for more than a couple of minutes it dries right down the tube. I have tried putting the lid on every time, but it stills seems to dry up. Thanks.x
@ThePaperyCraftery
3 жыл бұрын
Mine does dry up from time to time. A good tip is to store it upside down and to also use a damp paper towel or a sponge in the bottom of a cup or where over you place your glue bottle when you’re using it. That can help too. But I still have to push a pin through sometime to unblock the dried glue.

Hi , could you advise me regarding quilling combs ? do they come with different thicknesses of tines ? i have sent away for a hair comb with thick tines to try out as im not happy with the amount of detail i`m getting with my quilling comb , maybe i`m just being picky , complete novice . Loving your tutorials by the way .

The different sizes will definitely have different results. Also the tines may be spaced differently depending on the comb. Find what works for you!

Would you recommend a kit for a beginner?
@ThePaperyCraftery
Жыл бұрын
There's a lot of kits out there so it's hard to say, but a lot of them have tools that you may not need. I would pick up a needle and a slotted tool and some paper strips and start from there. I do link to every tool and supply that I use for all my projects in each video if you need some suggestions 🙂

@ThePaperyCraftery
Жыл бұрын
It's definitely a "feel" thing. You've really got to push the end of the paper around the needle with your fingers to get it started. But there is no problem with using the slotted tool, if that's what you prefer. And you don't have to start quilling comb projects with the anchor like I do on these flowers. You can just hold the end of the strip as you start weaving around the comb instead.

Have you tried rolling your paper around a needle tool or toothpick to make an "anchor" before using your quilling comb? I'm not sure if you mean the center of what you make on the quilling comb or the center when you fold it over.

@@ThePaperyCraftery yes I have been rolling around a toothpick before moving to the quilling comb (great idea). I mean the centre when I fold it over to for the petal.
