if u attach some rubber on the tracks it will help on rough terrain and gives it more traction to climb up some steep terrain :D

If the wheels are rotating in only one direction then how is the tank going right or left? I mean it should be confined to forward and backward movement.
@amitavabiswas5260
3 жыл бұрын
There are 2 motors connected to each drive wheel. When you are pressing the buttons to go left or right on the controller, then the motors work individually.. Like if you are pressing left then the right motor is working or spinning the right drive wheel. Which is making the tank go left or rotate left. This is how actually tanks work.

This is important for my project, I just want to know if the tracks that you used on this model will be rigid enough to deal with a little larger amount of weight, like the zig-zag stuff beneath the thin layer of the cardboard at 2:24, whether they will be "squashed" under high pressure, and hence the tank will be ruined and it won't be able to move anymore. Also, I want to know if they won't tear apart like when they are moving with the wheels, since you fixed the two ends with some sort of glue or something, I was wondering if they would just tear and the tracks will be destroyed. Hope you will reply, and thanks for this cool video!

If you want to use cardboard... you're better off converting cardboard to the much stronger variant. First, you need a blender, cardboard, water, and a mold. (unsure if the glue in between some cardboard will cause a problem) Second, you need to soak the cardboard and process it in the blender... a goop is about the consistency I would go for. Third, you would need to empty the blender into the mold and compress it, unsure how you might speed up the drying process or how this step should properly be done; I recommend looking online if you have any questions. lastly, after a few days, it should be dry and maintain its shape with a hardness near to MDF or whatnot. Basically, you need two parts of a mold to compress it to a certain thickness, if you can maintain a constant height across the piece then you could probably use 2 flat tiles, but I would expect better results from using a frame. The goop will compress to extremely small thicknesses, and when dry, will remain at that thickness and be far more durable than regular cardboard. I first saw the process in a KZitem video where a person compressed a few boxes or so into a small mold for a DIY Bluetooth speaker... the resulting material was rather hard and able to be drilled into while maintaining its shape.

@@abdullahalmueed You are welcome. Figure it would also increase its overall durability, and with a bit of watertight sealing like with an oil coat (forget the actual name of the oil-like thing they coat cardboard with that is not epoxy), it should be a toy you can enjoy for a long while :D
