How long does it take to form crystals
@leahnoelt16
Жыл бұрын
It depends on the kind of salt you use! If you’re using regular table salt it will take about a week. Alum and epsom salt will form over a few hours to 2 days!

Crystal growing can be done with ANY kind of salt, even the poisonous kinds so use ppe with those haha. Copper sulphate is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful crystals for it's bright blue color, and ADP is another popular choice for crystal growing. The exact crystal formation is something you don't have much control over, but to make 1 giant crystal you'll need what's known as a crystal seed. Google that for more info cause this comment is long enough lolz.

The more the salt the bigger the crystal, think of it that way because its the salt that turns to the crystal.

What kind of salt works best?
@laurenevers8644
11 ай бұрын
Depends on what your definition of "best" is. Any salt will work; table salt, sea salt, epsom salt grows very fast, copper sulphate is a very beautiful blue so there's no need for food coloring, there's also ADP and a lot of other poisonous salts you can use if you're willing to be very, very careful with how you handle them. But because they're all salt they'll dissolve in water, so keep that in mind.

What if i dissolve salt in unboiled water? Then also crystals will form?
@namaio8754
5 ай бұрын
There won' t form any crystals. You can dissolve more salt into boiled water. If you put the maximum salt that is dissolvible in the water and the water cools down, the salt needs to "undissolve". That's why the salt attaches on the string.

Yes, you will need to heat the water until it is almost boiling and add your salt doing this will make the salt crystallize together faster i dont want to explain the science of it tho
@Emilian0oGE
Жыл бұрын
You could also use epsom salt or something else rather than table salt. It will speed up the process from a week to 3-4 hours - 2 days
