This easy to follow made from scratch southern style cornbread dressing is perfect for thanksgiving/ holidays.
Stock:
1 whole chicken
6 cups of water or enough to cover your chicken
2 tbsp better than bouillon chicken base
Salt and black pepper to taste
1 onion
1/2 Bell pepper
2 ribs of celery
2 large carrots
6 sprigs of thyme
6 whole cloves of garlic
Cornbread:
1 1/4 cup all purpose flour
3/4 cup cornmeal
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup of sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 cup of milk
1 egg
1/3 cup melted butter
Bake at 350 for 45 minutes
Dressing:
Crumbled cornbread
Shredded boiled chicken
8oz keilbasa or smoked andouille sausage
1 small onion diced
1/2 green bell pepper diced
2 ribs of celery
Scallion
1 can of cream of chicken soup
1 can of cream of celery soup
2 cups of chicken stock
1 tsp rubbed sage
2 tsp white pepper
2 tsp Montreal chicken seasoning
1 tsp Lawrys
3 tbsp butter
1 egg
Bake at 375 for 50 minutes
