Hi Suresh tried your recipe and did a couple of things to it without changing your recipe and guest loved it. Ihave been doing asian cooking at home for a while especially curry and I like adapting my own ideas to people recipes. I did the marinade as suggested added chicken and left it for an couple hours then cooked it to your recipe. My change in the cooking was I added a can of tomatoes 400g then pressured cooked the chicken for 15 min released the pressure in the pressure cooker then added can of coconut cream stirred in the coconut cream and left it till ready to serve.. Also tried it the next day and was even better

Great old school 80's style Sri Lankan chicken curry recipe and I will try the frying of he chilli powder and curry powder the next time I make ours. I state old school is these days the skin is taken off the chicken pieces and discarded. But I grew up in the 80's and at Sri Lankan dinner parties the skin always apart of the dish. For me Chicken skin means flavour and I am always arguing with my mother who complains that its bad for you and refuses to eat the curry. Mind you it adds a fair bit of oil to the finish dish.

Thanks Shanthi, the reason I used this medium size pot is to give best close-up view in the video. However, I'm happy to take your comment on-board for my future videos :)

Daily Food Recipes hi , i want to know that if i can use the same recipe for chicken liver curry ? do i have to add potatoes ? pls advice .... thanks ...
@Dailyfoodrecipes
9 жыл бұрын
Commando ak Yes you can, as the original spice quantities are for 600g of chicken you might want to use 750g of chicken liver with same amounts spices. Also if you want add potatoes, I'd suggest to use 500g chicken liver with 200g of potatoes. Make sure to adjust salt to your taste. Hope this helps..

I can never get it the gravy to become red like I see in your photo. How does that happen since at the end of your video your gravy is still yellow?
@Dailyfoodrecipes

Hello Ruky, thanks for dropping by. Sometime colours may slightly vary in the video & photo as we using two different light settings. For photos we using a pro studio level lighting setup but for kitchen environment it's semi-pro. Hope this help to ease your mind.

I think its just the oil that floats up when it sits for a while. That's what makes it look like the curry is red in the photo. because usually the curry doesn't become "red" unless you use a bunch or chili powder.
@tanaquile1

Hi Ruky, the trick to getting your gravy red is to roast or fry red chilli powder as the first ingredient in your pot. I usually add in garlic onions ginger into the simmering oil first and once they are translucent I add in raw chilli powder and let it roast well before adding the roasted curry powder and ground pepper. This also works in getting a red curry but tempering the raw chilli powder first works best. Hope this helps you.
