Nice video. Another way to get multiple stitches is to change the array modifier's Fit Type to Fit Curve. This eliminates some of the trial-n-error of getting the stitch count right. You'll still have to play around with the relative offset, naturally.

So, I know it's been a while, but I finally used 'Fit Curve' for the fit type in an array and now I can truly appreciate the added efficiency. It's nice not having to fiddle with the count. It just does it for you! Thanks for mentioning this. Hope all is well. Have a great weekend.

Anything is possible in Blender. The key is just finding the trick to do it most efficiently. Your questions are great and I wish I could answer them concisely in this reply but I think they warrant a video explanation in both cases. Though I would love to promise that I would make a video on those topics in the near future, I can not guarantee it. However, if you discover another video that covers them, please post the link here, it will surely help others. Thanks for taking the time to view and comment, I appreciate it. And good luck on your Blender journey!

awesome video but with the curve it doesnt work if I wanna apply on something which has Subdivison mody. Any idea for that? I mean it follows the curve but not the form:/
@Smooth_Shading
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the compliment! If you have a mesh with a subdivision surface modifier on it, after you duplicate and separate an edge loop (but before you convert it to a curve), apply the subdivision surface modifier to it. Then, as long as you don't change the base mesh's geometry or subdivision surface modifier level drastically, the edge loop should follow the base mesh well. Then, you should be able to convert it to a curve and proceed. Try that out and let me know if this helps.

@@Smooth_Shading haha i had to spend hours on this method to understand deeply the concept behind tbh. And I had to apply the transforms. That was the key, because i used it with my sneaker design. Anyway thank you for giving us the first push.

hey, so I followed how to do this and my stitches for some reason freak out and go everywhere when I apply my curve to the curve modifier. I assume that my curve is the issue but I got this to work once but now it refuses to work on any of my other curves. ;v; any tips?
@Smooth_Shading
3 жыл бұрын
First, I just want to thank you for watching this video. As far as the issue goes, it might be the position of the stitch mesh in relation to it's origin. Check the little bit of troubleshooting at 8:12. Let me know if it works or not. I'll do my best to help. Have a great day!
@muggleborn6261
3 жыл бұрын
Hm, I tried but the stitching is stretching itself out, enough to make it hard to see. Trying to scale, rotate, apply scale, create a new stitch completely etc. doesn't work. That's why I assume its my curve that's messed up.
@danielbringhurst4541
3 жыл бұрын
@@muggleborn6261 How about the origin of the curve? Is it in the center? Maybe try setting "origin to geometry" on the curve, and applying it's rotation and scale. Keep me posted.
@muggleborn6261
3 жыл бұрын
@@danielbringhurst4541 yeah I tried that and it worked for one of the curves but it wont work for any of the others (all are separated and not linked together)
@Smooth_Shading
3 жыл бұрын
@@muggleborn6261 Is there only one stitch mesh being used for all of the curves? If so, you may want to duplicate that stitch and use a separate one for each curve. That way you can manipulate it in edit mode specific to each curve without affecting the others. If the curve paths rotate/twist/turn, you may need to rotate the stitch in edit mode relative to it's origin to get it's array to line up correctly with the curve. Try limiting it's rotation to one axis at a time and rotating it slowly until you find the correct axis and the correct rotation. Hopefully that will help. Let me know. We're gonna get this figured out together!

P.S For those who have problem with alignment and positioning of Object "Stitch" with the curve 1- when you add new mesh for modeling the stitch keep the MESH's position in it's orginal location when modeling it and dont fkin change that Mfkin piece of sh!t i fkin spent two days duplicating and positioning stitches manually and that's how you learn it in hard way it was so fkin frustrating that i wanted to sh!t on every thing and become akhmed the terrorist and build a spaceship to go to sun and destroy it to freeze you all to death haaaaaaaah. 2- the curve's location doesn't matter but you most set it's origin to the 3D cursor. Keep this in mind that english is not my first language it's the 3rd one and it self learned. finally i hope i helped no body and your welcome. if any question PLEASE ask and hope for someone to answer you oneday.

Thanks for weighing in on this, I appreciate you taking the time to comment in detail. This is discussed in the video starting at 8:12 . I go over how it's important to keep the stitch's origin in the center of the stitch mesh and how the array of stitches gets misaligned when the stitch is away from it's origin.
