Love love love this block! I received a layer cake as part of a subscription box. It wasn't in colors I would have chosen (but I wanted to get out of my comfort zone). I did not like the pattern that I was suppose to use and it required a lot of additional fabrics. I was not into so much additional expense for a fabric I was not in love with. So I went looking for blocks that could be made with 10" squares. Even though this pattern calls for 10.5" squares, I knew it would work. The blocks are spectacular! I haven't made all the blocks yet, but I will be able to make 21 blocks. A nice throw & a pillow.

This is very interesting and faster than the way I was taught. Thank you for stressing measurement before doing the cutting lines. I will have to try it your way. I would love to do it with red, white, and blue fabrics to make a Quilt of Valor, Thank you again

I like finding "tricks" to make the sewing quicker or easier or both and then sharing them with you. Measuring and squaring is so important; I just wish I had found that out earlier. I think this would be beautiful in the red white and blue. Be sure to post your finished block on our Facebook page. Thanks for watching.

Ok, that was really cool! It was like watching card tricks at a magic show! I’m new to quilting/sewing so I really appreciate your style of teaching. So many videos on measuring and squaring up say “line up your ruler on this line” , “measure to here” or “put your ruler there” trouble is I can never really tell exactly where “there is”. 🥴 Thanks for saying and showing the sq up lines. #measuringanxiety

You are very welcome, Jennifer. I know what you mean. I am not an expert so I try to teach at the level I would understand. So many times the teachers just assume everyone knows how to do the simple things and that is just not true. Thank you so much for watching and your comments.

Hi Denise. I try not to show things like pressing in every video since a few of our viewers have seen it may times before, but I do show the regular tasks every now and then. I did do a video specificly showing pressing and squaring. You can find it here - kzitem.info/news/bejne/1qChvKWup56QjHY. I hope this helps.

Newbie here. So at 2:12 she mentioned sewing around the squares but leaving 2 inch openings or "pockets" at opposite sides of the squares. She said it's very important but never mentioned what the function of this technique was. I replayed the video but I still couldn't find the answer. Did I miss something? This is a beautiful block and I do appreciate the making and sharing all the info.

Virginia Valentin the pocket is so the four patch in the middle works out. It’s not a “pocket” per se
