ALWAYS put them in hot water, the cold water method is the hard to peel method.

Shell sticks when eggs are really fresh.

Just tried this with white eggs. Shell was ripping chunks of the egg apart, egg was undercooked and fell apart halfway through peeling.

You followed how I did it? Cold water cover the eggs bring water to a boil once you get to a boil then you start a timer for 12 minutes

@@RosePigCooking yeah. It was going to be my lunch and I made sure to follow the steps exactly because boiled eggs are my Achilles heel. Could be the difference between white and brown eggs, i don’t know.

You should bring the water to a boil and then put them in once the water is boiling

Put a couple of teaspoons of vinegar & a teaspoon of salt into the water first, the vinegar makes peeling a lot easier & the salt makes the water boil a lot quicker, after cooking, run them under the cold water tap for about a minute, the egg shells act like mini pressure cookers & keep on cooking long after they have been taken off the heat, running them under cold water stops the cooking process & also prevents that mushy green/grey substance from forming between the egg whites & the yolks as you let them cool down in a bowl, let them rest in cold water for another couple of minutes, no need to add ice, although you can if you really want to but it's not really necessary & then peel them, the shells should just come right off, I, personally prefer to steam them, but I also poke a hole or 2 in the rounded end of the eggs with a sewing needle first, this is where there is a little air pocket, & this allows any internal steam to escape & also stops the egg shells from cracking during cooking, you can also do that for boiling them too, just be careful not to Pierce the membranes.

They didn't peel that easy from what I could see, If you put the eggs in boiling water right from the fridge it doesnt allow time for the membrane to attach to the shell 😳

NO! This is how you make a hard to peel boiled egg. Do you see the little flakes still left on the egg? You had to dip it again to remove them lol.

Now this is exactly how I do mine and they come out perfect every time. I just can’t believe that there’s so many people out there making videos showing us how to do it the wrong way when your method is the correct way and that’s how I do mine.

I have had terrible results with this method, seems better to add eggs to already boiling water, cook, then the ice bath

I put 1 teaspoon of sugar to the eggs and water then boil.

Why? what does the sugar do? I've heard that adding a little bit of salt to the water makes it boil faster but I've never heard of putting sugar in there before so I'm genuinely curious as to the reason why & what benefits it gives.
