These little tutorials are great mate. Hard to find decent ones that show you exactly how to achieve certain effects. ❤

I'm glad you like them. They got inspired from my frustration of the current "tutorial trend" of unreasonably long and generic videos.

How is your material is emiting light even it is principle BSDF? My translucency is not emiting light as yours. What should I do?

I have a sphere light inside the lantern, that's where light is coming from.

really struggling to see what the nodes are that you used on the newspaper texture. did i miss a different tutorial?

Hi, every image texture that I use gets a mapping and a texture coordinate node attached to it so i can control it's placement on the 3d models. once thing you can do to get those nodes automatically is enable the "node wrangler" addon and once you load a texture, while the node is selected hit Ctrl+T. I also plug the texture into a RGB Curves node so that I can color correct it if needed. Hope that helps.

Fantastic tutorial! Can you do one on blending multiple textures (for instance, multiple ground textures) in an simple and easy to follow way?

Hey, I will see what i can do about that. there are a few ways to do it, and also a few good tricks to blend in assets into the ground they sit in but it's gonna take some time to set up an interesting scene :D stay tuned.

Awesome! Where did you get the texture from by the way? Trying to recreate as seen in tutorials really helps me understand fully - did you just apply that to a cylinder?@@blenderisms

@@user-bf9hy8jt3l just googled for "old newspaper page" and no, the model is of a rolled up piece of paper, not just a cylinder, but you can try it with a cylinder too.

Sorry that you feel this way. Keep in mind most of my videos are far from beginner friendly and having a good familiarity with Blender is almost a must.
