Excellent video. I followed your instruction and made my own waraji sandals using juta cord 6mm in diameter. Thanks!

well done. I had dean get me a pair once. I wore them for a year a few times in my videos. they sure don't last long. in the forest in rocky and other terrain. wow. but they are cool. mine seamed more like real straw than straw rope etc. but I bet hemp or straw rope would last longer. great job. I made a single waraji from a video on youtube once. to small but I had it pretty dialed. not using a template. I used my feet I think to tie it to. your two big toes. using your own body as the nails and board. but I forget how I did it. it was years ago. great work bro.

Thanks Mountainous. I tried the other way, too, and I couldn't make it work just right. I might make some with synthetic cord or rope.

How far away from your foot do you need to mark the pegs for the side loops? I have marks placed approximately 3 inches from the traced shape of my foot currently.

Can you use any material when making the shoe? Bank line, para cord, etc? Peace, Maurice

You could for sure. I thought about using nylon cord or rope but I haven't tried it.

Can these be made from thinner cord such as 550 paracord or would it wear to quickly?

You weave in and out of the last two side to side strands.

Is it possible to make it with my toes on the sandal. Because I can't buy the sock you wear... And the pavement here burns your feet to the max XD

You can actually use regular socks, or barefoot. Only the very tips of your toes touch the ground. But why not experiment? Might come up with something good.

Excellent! I've though of doing that and I would try sewing the U first and then cutting in between. Seems like it would be better for the sewing machine. Currently I'm sewing a yukata (light cotton kimono) from cotton bedsheets lol. I have a made in Japan one that I'm copying.

I've always wondered why the toes overhang. That's pretty uncomfortable, and your tabi will wear out!

I just saw this video and don't know much about the sandals but with the toe hanging out I can only imagine because when I want barefooted or or things like that and going up places I noticed my toes want to attach to the surface that I'm walking and that's what I'm thinking that the toes hang out so if you're running or going up hill or something your toes we'll go around the rim of the sandal and hold them on to your foot into your back on regular surface. That's why I assume that the tow hangs out so they can crimp down and hold the sandal so they don't slip off.

Could you use razorwire to make these?
@christianlee1151
6 жыл бұрын
icepickmeetstemple i bled a lot with razor wire. it works just weird. after like a year of constant cuts on your feet, they begin to callus up and become so hard that when you step on the shoe you can’t feel the razor cause it isn’t cutting your foot anymore. pretty cool idea it just takes some time to get used to it

a good idea and you show just enough to not show it. Why do it off camera and then try to explain it later. I get the idea but a video is visual and you skip that. I like your channel but your "instructional" videos lack a lot of instruction.
