There are always lots of dandelions in the gardens and fields of Somerset in the spring and right through the summer. So why not make wine from them. You can use the young leaves in spring to add to your salad too.
As a child I was always told that dandelions would make you wee the bed. I really hope thats just an old wives tale.
This is the first time I have made Dandelion Wine, so let me know your thoughts if you’ve made it yourself and any tweaks you might suggest to my recipe.
You will need basic brewing equipment and the following ingredients if you want to make it the same way as me.
Ingredients for 4.5 litres (6 bottles / 1 gallon)
1kg of Dandelion Heads
800g Brewing sugar
500g Granulated sugar
4.5 litres (8 pints) Boiling Water
250ml White Wine Enhancer
2 Lemons - Zest & Juice
1 tsp Pectolase
1 tea bag
1tsp White Wine Yeast
1tsp Yeast Nutrient
