Beautiful. I can imagine sandwiching a lighter colored wood between the walnut to give a little extra bling.

@@jeffmackdesigns oh! Dont know how else to ask you besides here, would you consider making a 16"x16" square mold? Youve got an 18x18 but 16x16 would be awesome too! (Which could be divided into roughly 8x16 and thats a nice size for little butter boards and such)
@jeffmackdesigns

@@austinwise7436 a good short term alternative would be to pop a few dividers in the 18” by 18” to avoid building your own.

All that effort and you put thos giant mounting brackets on it, looks amazing finish, just surprised that decision was made

It's the sturdiest way to mount them, once they're flush and mounted to the underside they aren't noticeable.

Love the look of the oil finish.😊 What is the cure time, and how durable are they?
@jeffmackdesigns
Жыл бұрын
The Rubio Monocoat pure 2C fully cures in 7 days but you can use the piece after a day. It’s very durable. Rubio was originally designed for hardwood flooring applications and is still mainly used for floors today.

What type of router bit is used when routing inside the template? How would it ride along the template without plunging the entire depth of the bit? What am I missing?
@alexanderbaker4083
7 ай бұрын
You use a router template guide or router bearing. They come in different sizes depending on how much you want it held off the finished cut or how deep you want to cut before it stops. I’m sure I’m not using the exact right terminology but you’ll find what you need with that.

Wow looks great. Is there a way I can attach these legs to marble or granite table tops?
@jeffmackdesigns
Жыл бұрын
Thanks!! For marble or granite I would stick with some sort of base that the top can sit on/attach to. But I’m not an expert in that space so I would check with some who specializes in granite/stone tops before attempting it.

What size band saw do you use to cut bigger legs? Smaller legs are ok for this size band saw but bigger can be problematic.

We have a 14” band saw… most band saws will accommodate this kind of cutting

would wood glue work as well with the inserts or you recommend epoxy?
@jeffmackdesigns

We recommend epoxy or CA Glue. Wood glue doesn't tend to bond to metal too well.

Depends on the species, dryness and design of the build! Some of our tables receive bracing while others don't.

Hey guys! How thick would you make legs for a desk? I got the dining template for this project. I have 2” rough sawn maple but after planing the boards of course they are now 1 3/4 thick. Thoughts here??
@jeffmackdesigns
10 ай бұрын
1 3/4" sounds on the thin side, but ultimately its a design choice. What matters most is how they get mounted to the table top!

2 sided template tape. has anyone heard of that before? ;-)
@michaelbaranov8965
2 ай бұрын
I bought a kit and the template is only 1/16 larger than the plate on each side. This is too small of an offset to use with a guide bushing so evidently they are using a pattern router bit in the video (even though they make sure not to show this important detail). Well now we I need to find a 1/4 or so short pattern bit somewhere. Easier to go ahead and use my bushing set to make a new template from the actual plate with extra offsets. Everyone keep it in mind that the template they are providing is of a questionable utility.
