Its acidic whey, super healthy! the enzymes and healthy bacteria promotes good gut health, use it in homemade mayo and the mayo lasts weeks [!] in the fridge instead of days. Fermented mayo.

Thank you for sharing this information, I'll have to give the mayonnaise a try the next time I make yogurt. :)

Thanks for watching! I understand your concerns; the first time we used it we put a thermometer in to see what the temperature was to make sure it was correct and we have never had problems.

How long would this last in the fridge? Also, can this freeze? I just made yogurt today, going to try and make cream cheese tomorrow!

Thank you for your questions! The yogurt has lasted for us up to 2 weeks in a covered container, but is normally long gone in a week. I have frozen my yogurt in 1/4 cup portions to use as seed for future batches and it has worked fine up to a year later. I will say when freezing any yogurt, store or homemade, over time the texture does change and it will become more grainy and less smooth. I've been thinking of making some frozen yogurt and fruit pops and I'll let you know how they come out! Thank you for watching and leaving your comment.

Thank you Nancy and Happy Holidays!!! No we don't make kefir but we do make sour cream and cream cheese! Steve is planning on trying mozzarella cheese with no rennet so depending on how that goes we may have some fresh cheese for his pizzas!!!

Do you ever keep aside yogurt that you have made to make a new batch of yogurt, or do you always use store-bought yogurt to make a new batch?

I use from my existing batch to make a new batch. I have found though that after 6-8 batches the taste does change and becomes sharp. I freeze 1/4 cup “starts” from my initial batch and find they can keep for about a year with no problems. This allows me to periodically start fresh and then freeze a few more with each “new” batch. I haven’t had to buy a store starter in about two years. Thank you for watching and taking the time to ask questions ❤️
