It also looks like they can be installed on left or right sides of the drawer. The exposed top piece when the drawer is open is available in white or gray only, so spray paint might be needed for wood or other color drawer sides, if you want to hide them slightly. They are sold in sets of two for two light weight drawers. Heavier drawers may need a set on each side, ROK says.

Dissecting the mechanism to show how it works internally would be interesting and also might give a clue to its longevity (plastic gears, etc). How many cycles are these rated for? I like the concept but I’d want to know these aren’t going to fail in 12 months after putting a bunch of screw holes in drawers and cabinets. In woodworking projects I’ve used Blum tandem blumotion slides which are expensive and as you pointed out require replacement of existing hardware if you want to retrofit them in, but they are rock solid and built to last decades. You sometimes get what you pay for.

Thanks for posting this video. I was just wondering about these soft close drawer things last week. Wondering how much they cost per drawer an ease of installing them because I have vision troubles. I thank you for this video and I will be installing soft drawer closures in my my kitchen and maybe my bathroom at same time. I'll check the prices at my local hardware stores an if they are higher then I'll order them online. I don't know why but I don't mind spending a extra dollar at my mom n pop hardware store vs like our Lowe's store. I think maybe it's because mom n pop stores are competing with the big box stores and I always root for the small guy. You are a great teacher and explain things clearly. Having said that, I did install these on 2 kitchen drawers. They work exactly as you said. My kitchen drawers don't have handles, just a routed edge so they are not as easy to open. You did mention this. As much as I like the way they close, it's a deal breaker when it comes to how the drawer now opens. As many reviewers have said on Amazon, the plastic tabs were all broken off. You can still easily install them.

We just installed this kit and are thrilled! My husband has several drawer units in the garage that have heavy items in them. We were concerned this kit wouldn't handle a heavier load but it did a fabulous job. Now the drawers are pulled closed with ease! Well worth the time to complete this project. BTW, we had to add 3/4" trim board pieces to screw the glide piece behind the rail on the cabinet wall. It worked perfectly and added extra stability to the drawers as well. I noticed Lee Whitmore mentioned you might need two pulls for heavier drawers but we didn't need to do that with any of the drawers we installed this kit on.

My cabinet slides are mounted to the bottom of the cabinet frame opening and the back of the cabinet. There is approximately a 1/2” setback from the side of the drawer frame opening where the slide rail is and the inside wall of the cabinet. I guess in this case I would have to put a spacer on the inside wall of the cabinet that would allow the “draw bar” to be mounter at the proper spacing to pick up the latch on the draw side. Have you ever done that?

Hello! Some says that the system is not that good as the drawer needs more power to open it and it also makes the drawer to open slowly than before. I understand that it make sense to make the drawer close slowly when you are about to close it and the pieces get together making the mechanism to do his job, but what about when you want to open it? Does it also moves slowly?
@AmplifyDIY
4 ай бұрын
There is a slight resistance when opening. You'll notice it at first, but it quickly becomes second nature. It does not make it open more slowly, just that it requires a bit more of a tug when opening... it's honestly not a big deal at all, though.

Hi Ray - I'm not sure you'll be able to install into metal drawers... it'll come down to whether you have an appropriately-sized gap between the side or bottom of the drawer and the cabinetry, and whether you can find hardware to use for the install. If the drawers are sheet metal, you'll probably need to use machine screws to go through the soft-close mechanism and into the drawer, then use a washer and nut to secure it from the inside of the drawer. G'day!

Hi Pete - thanks for coming back with the answer to your own question! The real issue is whether there is an internal wall in the cabinet that the mechanism can mount onto. For many undermount systems, there is no wall on the side of the drawer, so no way to mount these things. *However* If your cabinetry *does* happen to have internal walls, these could be used... they'll just be trickier to mount and get aligned correctly.
