I think it’s because, by forcing your fingers to play different rhythmic patterns, it retrains the physical experience of putting your fingers down.

it makes you put your next finger down immediately to end the short note. most important thing to play fast is to press as lightly as possible with no hand tension

Just make the first note longer with fortissimo if it’s mf, and mf if it’s mp
