Thank you so much. Can I use another oil besides coconut oil? Like Castor oil or Jojoba?

A little late to this party. Used home made foaming soap dilutions for many years. Guessing dilution of around 10-1, like 250 ml water to 25 ml soap, which may be too high??. A different type of soap (low sudsing Unscented concentrated ALL for laundry) was starting to run and become messy and still hard to rinse off add 1 to 10 and the PH was 9-10. I want a coherent mass of easy to handle and not too difficult to rinse off foam. The favorite ancient Dawn foaming hand soap dispenser squirts out about 1.5 grams of soggy foam each pump. Should talk to someone in the soap making industry to see if there are going to be untended consequences for adding water to products. Is there a potential for bacterial contamination and will distill water be best practices? Also Also is there gong to be any product degradations or chemical changes when more water is present. Usual disclaimers apply, I might be completely incorrect about anything written here, so please don't modify any formula or use products or chemicals in a way the manufacturer has not clearly written on the packaging. Thanks for the good suggestions. Might be more fruitful to start more gentle type of soap. Remember the original You tube video creator recommeneded Dr Bronners Castile soap, so consider my information experimental. I used Dr Bronners soap for many years after realizing I did not like it. When working at a Health food store a long time ago I remember the owner selling and using gallons of this stuff called LIFT which was a like super contracted "Natural" liquid soap . She said that the employees were not understanding how concentrated this stuff was,, and she found herself adding water to the product.

Awesome! Yes, don't you just love doTERRA!? The FCO is used as an emulsifier to disperse the essential oils better in the mixture. And yes, it's also good for moisturizing.

I have been using dotera for about a year or so now and I'm absolutely sold! I am currently going through treatment (chemo) for breast cancer and am very interested in detoxing my house of chemical cleaners! I use a lot of lemon and peppermint, rosemary and oregeno. Thanks for the simple hand soap recipes! Do you use the same for dish soap? And what about laundry detergent?
@ShelterMountainFarm

Girl, me too! Fill out my Google doc in the description if you'd like more info. I also have a FB group. And I am so stinkin' proud of you for taking your health into your own hands after such a battle! For dish soap, you would use all castile soap and then put in your favorite doTERRA oils. And did you know doTERRA actually sells an On Guard laundry detergent!? I haven't gotten to try that one yet but hope to soon. I have made my own powder detergent for years using essential oils but I like liquid better. Curious to try the On Guard kind....

Farm Life Outfitters I just started using the OnGuard concentrate and I love it. You can make an entire bottle of dish soap with a couple of tablespoons! And it smells awesome 😁

Actually Castile soap is not chemical free. The solid version uses Dodium Hydroxide and the liquid version has Potassium Hydroxide in it.

Actually can by using what is generally referred to as "surfactants". Any of the following, mostly derived from Coconut and palm oils reacted with fermented sugars. The chemical names are: Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate Sodium Cocoyl Glycinate Sodium Coco Sulphate Disodium/Sodium Cocyl Glutamate Decyl Glucoside Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate Coco Glucoside. Most are available in both liquid and powder form, but as far as i know not as a solid cake. So use is limited to liquid soap with the addition of water or as powdered soap. Ofcourse there is no such thing in nature that is not a chemical. The difference is synthesized from other chemicals or derived from natural products. But certainly very different from oil plus Sodium/Potassium Hydroxide.....

I tried doing this but I cannot get the pump to push down, it is super hard like there is pressure in there when I do finally get a good pump it comes out liquidy, what am I doing wrong? I reused a Bath and Body works foaming soap container.
@ShelterMountainFarm
4 жыл бұрын
Hmm...I'm not sure. I've never reused a store brand container before. Sometimes I do think the pumps are bad though as one of mine I bought eventually started to not foam nicely. The others I bought and reuse still foam just fine and I use the same recipe as in this video.

Water is a chemical and castile soap is a mixture of chemicals (potassium carboxylate salts, water, and glycerol in this case). Your peppermint oil contains menthol, menthone, and menthyl acetate. Also I have no proof other than your word that it actually foams. I think that'd be important, in a video on "foaming hand soap."
