Rolling it around a broom handle first and then threading the paper threw is much better, less creases.

Hi there, do you perhaps have a tutorial on how to make these awesome shapes and patterns with the tube while painting? I struggling to get the hang of some of the shapes unless my hand and wrist movement is incorrect...

I was thinking about you fiddling around with that piece of baking paper and had a eureka moment - why wouldn't you send the tube down with some (let's say 180 grid) sandpaper instead?
@RussellKlimas

You totally can! I have one that is sanded that a friend made. However trying to sand one takes a long time from my experience and I was never successful. Either one is great : ]]

I"m wary of sanding plastic for environmental reasons but it does sound like a great idea if the plastic dust can be disposed of properly!

Instead of gel paper can I use RGB flash light?
@RussellKlimas
4 жыл бұрын
You can, the issue will become getting an RGB light that is strong enough. Flashlight wise I'm using lights that are at least 1000 lumens.

Nice video. why did you switch from T12 to T 8.?
@RussellKlimas
4 жыл бұрын
Couple reasons: 1. Eric Pare switched and if he did there is good reason. 2. With a T12 and only using one flashlight because you have more of a tube to fill you lose lumens with it filling the tube. The only real benefit to a T12 is putting in two flashlights and using one on strobe. It makes the process easier than with 2 t8's but I only do one flashlight on strobe and one constant maybe 10% of the time. 3. Saves space!

My light is not consistent though the tube. The light fall off from the flashlight end compared to the other end is pretty dramatic. Which then causes the color not to be consistent through the tube. Any ideas?
@RussellKlimas
3 жыл бұрын
Yes this is normal. What most people do it have a white cap on the end of the tube to help bounce the light back if you want more light in the tube. It is better than using mirrors. (We know this from checking with a light meter) A cheap easy solution is to use toilet paper on the end to help bounce light back.

hello, do you must put waxpaper, could it be just jel without waxpaper?
@RussellKlimas

If you do it without wax paper your tube will look very transparent when light painting. You could also scratch up the outside of the tube as well for the same diffusion effect.
