In this video we'll be using some neodymium rare earth magnets to make magnetic oil drain plugs for Predator 212 and any other engines. There's also a bonus tip in the video on how to make your socket extensions magnetic too! Total cost around $12 for the 50 pack of magnets and a pack of JB Weld (2 part epoxy). This will make up to 50 drain plugs or socket extensions. Now that is a deal!
Instead of paying $10+ for a magnetic drain plug, here's how to make your own for a few cents each.
Jerred's tip on the tiny Neodymium magnets last week is a good one. They're small enough to stick (with JB Weld or other 2 part epoxy) on the end of an extension and still fit nicely inside a socket. I had to have some and so purchased the 50 pack from the Jungle site. These little magnets are very strong and will hold a bolt or nut in place while you start it on the end of the extension/socket. This comes in very handy for hard to reach areas and also works as a retrieval tool for small bolts or other metal objects that accidentally get dropped into tight spots. Thanks Jerred!
