Sharon Cawley is one half of the cofounders of the Facebook group, Life After Teaching, Exit the Classroom and Thrive.
Along with Sarah Dunwood, she founded a group which helps and supports teachers in the UK and overseas to manage life in toxic school environments.
Here, Sharon discusses how to combat the heightened anxiety and depression that teachers often feel when they are working in toxic school environments.
These feelings will often manifest themselves on Sunday evenings, halfway through school holidays or at times when we should be relaxed and enjoying life.
‘Getting a grip’, is an expression meant with love that will hopefully re-empower teachers to take control of the helplessness of feeling hijacked by the emotions of panic, fear and overwhelm that can often face a teacher when working in a dysfunctional school.
