Yet another masterclass in the art of dressing well. Thank you, Chris. All of the outfits shown are praiseworthy for their style and harmony of complementary colours. My personal favourite is the one featuring the Burgundy, Mustard & Blue stripe Shantung tie with the chambray shirt. Nice!

Learn something new every day. I didn't know that was called a Tattersall shirt. I put together an English Country Gentleman ensemble after seeing an interview with Douglas Murray wearing a green tweed jacket, Tattersall shirt with tie, and burgandy corduroy pants. I copied it. In the USA, we also call this basic style the "professorial look". At least I do. Especially with elbow patches on that tweed jacket.

Proper coats (if you buy them new) are often rather expensive, so I always recommend wax jackets as a budget solution for the "I wear a suit but do not have an overcoat" dilemma a lot of younger guys have. Much better-looking than a polyester jacket, especially when it's a navy blue. It does not look casual nor does it look formal -I think it's a good piece to keep your wardrobe versatile.

As someone who lives in a true country environment, this video has certainly given me more food for though. Thanks Chris.

Great review Chris - lovely mix of combinations there showing how practicality and elegance can be pulled together so well without looking contrived! Many thanks!

Nice ideas! I like that you mentioned that pattern mixing here is a bit more relaxed here, and many times there is a bit of an overdose of patterns, but it is really calmed by the muted, natural colour tones. I especially like the action back coats, you can achieve some really nice fits without compromising on comfort with those :)

I have a house in the country, and its rare to see now, I often wear it, i remember my grandfather wearing this style when he visited the cattle market and many of us wear it for the agricultural show. I see it more at the races tbf. I never wear the tattersall waistcoat, lots of tattersal shirts, i often drop a simple less hectic fairisle sleeveless jumper under the tweed blazer. Tweed is all vintage, I then have reimagined by my alterations guy to a more modern cut. Trousers, cords, jeans and for smart I have a few pairs of twill trousers with frog mouth pockets. Sadly today, country style around here, a fleece gilet, Wellington boots and poodle cross dog

Easily, my favourite style, especially when I am in mood for jeans. I mostly wear separates anyway, so this style is ideal for mixing and matching. As Chris mentioned, here is easy to combine 4 patterns, and I just love doing that as well.

Jeans are not English country style. If you are adding jeans, then you are making it more American country. "Country" is a loaded word in North America because of the connection with country music. Cottage style may be a closer term in NA, as full on backwoods is more dirty and scruffy. We need to remember you can't go far in the UK without hitting a town, so it is more cottage style, in NA we think of country as hundreds of miles in the woods. Travel more than a few hundred miles in the UK and you just drove from seaside town to seaside town.

@@CanadaFree-ce9jn I am very well aware of the geography of both countries, no need for the lesson. Also, I did not claim that jeans are English countryside look, just that I enjoy mixing both. I hope that clears it up.

North Americans like the English Country Style because it is more dressy than North American outdoor style. It is also a class system. However, if you take a look at old pre-1950 outdoor photos you will see early American hunters and outdoorsmen wearing not nylon but wool jackets with buttons, lapels, long sleeve shirts, etc., basically ECS in America was the norm, we just gave it up early never looked back once nylon hit the market.

Let's face it with the nylons: Of course they are not as stylish, but the price to performance is just an incredible revolution in terms of clothing availability. I am aware of the fact that the easy availability has done a lot to promote a throwaway mindset, but other than that, the longevity and ''cost per wear'' with your everyday ,,plastic'' jacket is just an immense advantage that makes you see immediately why we have abandoned the classic style. I think it's quite the irony that people are going back to natural fibers now after realizing that the fast and easy fashion has gone too far.

This tattersall shirt from the first outfit looks realy good, could you link it? Realy sad that is seem so hard to find one in an actual shop which you could try on as usually with those patterns it is hard to tell if they will "fit" for your personal colour combination.

What do you think of a tweed suit in a 1930s drape cut?
@chrismodoo6563

If that is your preferred style. Why not? Although some of the stiffer sporting tweeds have less drape so maybe better with a softer Donegal.
