I have an 87 grand national, and I'm wanting a particular stance, I'd like the rear wheels to be even with or slightly past the wheel wells. I've trying to figure the right back spacing for this!

Measure the distance out from the wheel mounting surface on the car to the edge of the wheel well. Lets assume it's 5". That distance plus the backspacing will equal the overall width of the wheel. Lets assume you want to run 8" wheels, which will probably be about 9" wide overall. 9" minus the 5" equals 4", which is the backspacinv you would need. Since 4" is less than half of the overall wheel width, you would have a negative offset of a half inch. (backspacing minus half the overall wheel width equals 4" minus 4.5")

Positive offset makes the rim go outside the car right?? Negative makes a deep dish?? Please help

So how do you figure out what size fits on your car, like if I need a wheel that has a 5.5" backspace, how is that determined?

so if i have a tire that wheel range is 6.5-8.5 - any number in that range will work - i can buy a wheel advertised as 15x7 and I am within - but is that 7 measure outside or inside (the stated width?) thanks in advance
