This video shows you how to measure for roads and other things in the game, SimCity 4. This technique can be used to comprehensively plan your city prior to pushing play. You can layout and measure where you want your roads to be, such as laying out a proportional grid across parts of your city/region.
A small city square/area is 64x64. A medium square/area is 128x128. A large city square/area is 256x256.Divide these values in half to get the middle of your city for an avenue or freeway that is two lots wide, since you need an even amount of squares/lots on each side to get the exact middle. To find the center for a rail line or two lane road/street that is only one square/lot wide, you need the measured distance to be an odd amount with two evenly numbered sides with a single row or column separating the two to be able to find the center without counting individual squares/lots.
I have many more tutorials to come. Make a suggestion on something you want me to cover.
