Hi Luisa, I'm so glad to hear you are diving into knitting. Since you are a crocheter, I'm going to let you in on a little secret...it's really easy to pick up Continental knitting if you are already a crocheter because you hold the needles almost the same way as you hold a crochet hook! Here's a video I made on Continental knitting: kzitem.info/news/bejne/mWtotauhqJSFg5g Keep me posted on your progress! 😀

At first I didn't realize to knit a hat I will require circular needles especially if it is a berret hat. Few times before I used the straight normal needles. I'm happy know to knit a berret hat is best to use circular needles. Thank you for this info. Yaeee!!! 👍

Just what I needed to know!! Thank you so much Nancy. BTW I found a bag of used circulars in all sizes and they were “supposedly” 32 inches long. NOT! But what I wanted to tell you since instead of a bag like yours mine are in a drawer LOL! Anyway these needles came to me marked with a sharpie with each inside a plastic fold over CD Sleeve! What a great idea! I actually DID find 100 of these sleeves on EBay for about $7.00! Thanks again for a very informative video!

So I'm organizing my needles after years away from knitting...Do some circulars just come in odd lengths? I'm measuring tip-to-tip, but it's not landing on a full inch. Would this maybe be shrinkage from improper storage? Or do variations always occur? Thanks in advance for any clarity!

Hi there, I just wanted to ask for some help with choosing what size circular needles to get please? I'm from Australia and will usually buy a size 16-18 cardigan as I like them to be oversized and comfortable, but for knitting my own on circular needles I can't work out if I need 100cm ones or if 80cm would be ok? I would also be buying them for making some jumpers as well, but also prefer my jumpers to be loose fitting for extra comfort. If you're able to make any recommendations I'd be very grateful, as I'm still quite lost despite researching for hours trying to work it out. I've only ever knitted on regular straight needles, not on circular ones before, so am really hoping for some guidance. Thanks so much! 😊

Just curious ... I'm not a very experienced knitter, however, have been able to follow a pattern for a tunic that is knitted joined in the round. Pattern instructed regarding needle length, etc., however, when I got to where I was finishing neckline and needed to join in the round, pattern did not say to change needle length and so I struggled with stretched stitches. Do patterns typically usually assume you should know to adapt to the smaller circumferences within a pattern?
@nobleknits
4 жыл бұрын
Hi Marilyn, that is a great question! It's true, most patterns don't tell you when to change needle length. Most often the pattern will include in the "Materials" all of the needle sizes and lengths used to knit the project, but it is often assumed you'll know when to use them especially when knitting a garment. After knitting a few garments, you'll find the needle lengths used at certain points ie. sleeves, cuffs, and neckline are usually 20" or smaller.

Thanks for the video! My problem is a pattern asking for a certain size and my stitches not reaching the ends! in this situation would you just use them in a magic loop kind of method? or would you use smaller circumference? Or will the stitches stretch a little more after the cast on edge?
@nobleknits
4 жыл бұрын
Hi Geedub, Great question! Start by taking a look at the finished circumference of the garment. I don't know what you are making so I'll just use an example. Let's say you are knitting a cowl and it's a 20" circumference and you are using a 24" long circular needle. In this case, work the stitches around and it will stretch a bit more after you've knitted a round or two. However, if you are knitting socks and the design calls for a 40" needle, you'll want to use the magic loop method. I hope that helps! 😀
