Using a bit that big and with that much water instead of adding it slowly while stirring it in, all you've done is whip air into the mud. Get ready for bubbling, shrinking, and cracking... you can already see air escaping right after you stop mixing. Consider just getting pre-mixed mud, it saves you hours and you're less likely to screw it up.

Great question - it does not. I've had conversations with USG about this and they know we all add water especially when using automatic tools. They formulate the compounds to be thinned without losing any of their effectiveness. If you make it like water obviously that would effect it but adding some water to make it a more spreadable consistency is fine.

Nice try with a "couple of errant brush strokes" that is EXACTLY what EVERY drywall foreman has said after having to clean up and repair everything after they are done. Go blow your smoke up someone els's ass. You are just like the rest, and just a LITTLE care on your end would solve many problems. P.S. try to get ANYTHING to adhere to plywood/osb that has drywall mud soaked clear into the panels, you can't. It isn't anything like just a little bit of snow, or rain.

@@rfh1987 think of peanut butter being the ideal texture. Peanut butter is thick, won’t fall off the knife and spreads easy. If mud is too wet it will do several things… it wants drip off your knife, it will sag on the wall (similar to how paint runs) and it will cause the paper on the sheet rock to peel. I'm dying reading all these yuppie comments. It's box mud, not hot mud. It's cheaper than buckets and you don't have to deal with all the buckets when the job is done and they don't end up in a landfill. Thinning the mud is fine. You can't run boxes or a bazooka with thick mud. You also have to thin mud for spraying texture. If you use a hopper for paper face corner bead, you have to thin the mud for that as well. That "dirty" water is just water with dissolved mud in it from cleaning drywall tools.

Im sorry but no. Using creamy compound does not delaminate the drywall. I'm assuming you've never run automatic tools? You can not run super thick compound through a auto taper, boxes or angle box.
