One thing I did on my most recent wash day that CHANGED THE GAME FOR ME, was letting my deep conditioner sit in warm/hot water for 15 minutes before using. Omg let me tell yewww. The way the DC melted into my hair!! It already had good slip but I felt like I could pretty much detangle completely with my fingers. I was thinking it's possible that even if you are in the shower, if you are applying cold products to your hair, I can imagine the cuticles would probably seal shut. I will definitely be warming up my deep conditioner from now on Edit: 8/31/21 Ladies i just tried this again with my protein deep conditioner this time. Usually with the conditioners i use, i almost always have more slip in moisturizing DCs than protein DCs, but nothing too bad. Warmed up my protein dc today and it melted like butter in my hair! Took me less than 6 min to fully detangle my bra strap length hair. WARM UP YOUR DC ladies! You will not regret it!

Low porosity isn’t hard to moisturize, the problem is getting the water ( moisture ) into the cuticles. What helps is when applying products let them sit in your hair with a shower cap before adding the next product on top to fully absorb.

I've been natural practically all of my life (minus using a relaxer twice over 2 years) but I've never been taught to embrace my curl pattern and have always felt bad about my hair since braided styles never lasted for more than two days in my hair. I have 4a hair so humidity and sweat causes my hair to immediately reverse to its curly state. That being said I NEVER took care of my hair so recently in December I cut off 6+ inches off of my hair to bring it down to 2 inches of length to hopefully moisture train my hair better. When I tell you my hair has been flourishing it's crazy. I'm about 3 inches away from bra strap length 8 months after cutting off my hair. Your hair grows soooo much faster when you take the time to moisturize the curls and scalp that God has given you. I'm falling in love with my hair everyday. I hope other naturalistas get to the point that I am now. God bless you all! Much love.

I also used the shower cap afterward. My twists are very juicy. I will continue this routine. Finding great products really helps as well. I use Miche Beauty for cleansing and conditioning. However, I use Qhemet Biologics Burdock Root cream as a moisturizer, their Aeithiopika Twist butter for my twists and their Coconut and Tea Tree oil to seal. I hate to tell you how much money I have spent on products trying to find the right ones. People now stop me and tell me how pretty my hair is. Keep up the good work! Your tips are golden!!!

I wash my hair and two seconds later its so dry..so i had giving up on being kind to it. I was even toying w the idea of relaxing again, but i could never...I like how you have the same products that you constantly refer back to and use. Its not like you are using a new one every single time. So this has made me really enjoy your videos and know that the products that you talk about are good..when i buy them they will be well worth it. when i first went natural, i assumed i had low porosity hair because of the first couple videos i’d seen on how to know if you have low or high porosity hair. mind you, i didn’t do any of the tests to really see if i had low porosity hair 😂 but as my hair grew, i noticed the more products i’d use, the more the products just sat on my hair and i thought it was normal. as time went, i still felt that something was always off w my hair like how dry it would be, how often it would break, me doing protective styles back to back, just my hair wasn’t IT! and w life in the way, i didn’t have time to care for my hair up until recently. i currently have braids right now, i’m about to take them out and try my first wash and go! i have hope in myself that i’m able to do it and it should go well. i’m also taking tips from this video to help me better understand my low porosity natural hair! thank you!

I just gave up on moisturizing and my hair is better for it 😂. It just doesn’t do anything or it leaves it dull usually due to some protein ingredient. Hair products don’t work. Setting lotion and shea and mousse… that’s it. The shea apparently is an occlusive? Some say it’s moist but I read it’s more of a softener which is what I need - that and to form my curls cuz otherwise it’s just lank. This was definitely the most informative vid on moisture training. I think that when I’m styling my hair regularly, I definitely need a routine. When I’m natural, my hair need literally nothing in the way of additives . Like it seems neither dry nor oily. I swear it’s like a blade of grass. Sucks cuz people use product and get amazing results but me? Nothing. Still, it drives me crazy. People always say it takes a long time to get wet. What is this mystery long time number? No one really says. Are people in there rinsing there hair for half an hour or what? I don’t know. Am I low porosity? I have biracial but I don’t want to say curls. My curl is lank and bushy like hermione granger unless I put a ton of product. I do use conditioner but it’s usually a tea tree oil or citrus based. I read tea tree oil unclogs hair follicles. Softening it is really my goal. Is this low porosity? Avocado oil is good but coconut is just a mess. Just sits on my hair and head. Does nothing. I never had anyone to teach me how to do my dang hair. Thank god for the internet.

I washed my hair in the shower since I was in college and my hair still was dry. The products that I use was just you know simple basic things from Dollar tree I mean, I grew my hair out, but my hair overtime you know with the length the ends became brittle and all that type of stuff so that been years ago, but I recently bought some new shampoo. My old shampoo was Aussie miracle moist (avocado) and I just recently not too long ago got the miracle moist it’s a nice shampoo and it leather so thick and it does have a lot of smoothness and stuff like that but at the same time it feels kind of drying, so yeah I just wanted to try another shampoo and try to find one to tame my frizz and I gotten a shampoo for brittle ends and my hair is so soft in the shower just the shampoo and Looks like I did a wash and go in the shower and using the conditioner it makes my hair and every strand on my head defined I sprayed (it’s leave in) before I applied grease because I’m a grease girl and I feel like if I don’t put that in then my hair is definitely gonna be dry and all that I spray some on my head when I went to church and cover my little puff or my twist ball up to wear my wig puff, but before I wear that I put like a scarf over my head and you know to cover my puff(twist ball) and then put the wig puff on then cut a piece of clothing to make a bigger scarf to wrap around my whole head you know type of style and came back, removed all that my ends were still moisturized, and I thought the fabric would’ve soaking it all in, but it didn’t if it did it didn’t really do much you know and I was surprised and I was like wow but I am gonna keep trying with this product. I would try one without my grease just and see how it does, but I’m still gonna use that. The new shampoo that I use is shea moisture manuka honey & yogurt hydrate and repair shampoo. Because I see also on the bottle that it helps with dryness and brittle ends and so far is working very nicely, but I don’t know how it would do if I were my hair in a puff my actual hair I want to try it but right now my hair is breaking off so I just currently have it in twist right now maybe in the future I will actually try it Then but right now I just really want to focus on keeping my hair from breaking off breaking off because I left the conditioner from Aussie in there too long. I try to use conditioner as a leave in so if it does not say do not do it because my hair is falling out like crazy i’m not worried because I had cut my hair(many times) and got my hair to grow so it’s learning lesson 😂

Also to mention just using a shampoo and I was finger detangling because I felt like the tools were helping to pull out more hair in my head then what was already falling out you know so I wanted to finger detangle and just using the shampoo, not even a lot in my freaking head it was just smooth like super smooth versus Aussie. I love Aussie I’m Aussie girl, but I’m sorry but this one did it for me plus I love the smell of my new shampoo 😂

Thank you soooo much for this info! I have coarse, low porosity, thick 2a hair. I’m new to CGM, and I want to stop straightening my hair and using nasty products just to make it look shiny and smooth. The wavy hair influencers are not talking about this topic in depth. I’m also constantly dehydrated because I have an Ostomy bag, so my hair is very dry. I so need to try this. I just ordered a Q- Redew. The question I have is that I need to shampoo but my city has hard water. Should I use the hard water shampoo every week while training? Thank you again for all your help!
