What to expect as follow-up for cases of interstitial lung disease (ILD) and pulmonary fibrosis? How will your doctor check whether the lung scarring is getting worse? What are the tests they may request? What questions will they ask? How often will you need to be seen? Do all cases of pulmonary fibrosis require long-term follow-up consultations?
These are some of the questions that I answer in this video.
I also explain why certain tests are done and when (lung function - spirometry and gas transfer, chest CT scans, blood tests, heart scans - echocardiogram, ECG and ECG monitoring etc.).
I also mention why you may be asked about your oxygen levels and whether you are doing any exercises for your lungs (i.e. formal pulmonary rehabilitation programs).
