Hey I’ve got some really great news to share with you, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on a cross and resurrected on the third day so you may all have eternal life. If you believe and repent of your sins and put your faith and trust in Him as you would a parachute jumping off a plane at 25000 feet up in the air, He will give you eternal life in heaven as a free gift and I promise you, He will change your life forever as He did mine. He is the ONLY way to heaven and He loves you all. I started with Worldborne then played Sunrise. Like you, I couldn't look back. Though for ME, Worldborne had a lot of stuff that just is unfun. Like it wanted to waste my time, RNG of decos(could never get what I wanted), grinding lands, me finding a monster only for it to roar the moment I latch on then roll away to the other side of the map 😑. (Like you, I used the mounts to try to circumvent this but...world likes to waste your time. They have to roar, sniff, look around, move 10 feet, sniff, then move again. Sometimes taking the long way) I love that SunRise gives multiple options and different styles of play. Sometimes I use wire bugs. Sometimes I'll do a whole hunt without them. (I'm surprised people don't try this. You don't have to use the bug moves. It's not like you are punished via hitzones for not using it like a certain grappling hook....Personally never use them with the greatsword as I find the weapon itself already fun evem without the bugs.) Sometimes I'll use dodge bolt over charge bolt. Sometimes I'll get spirit berbs or not (world maxed at 200 hp, Rise lets you max at 250. There's a dango food skill that even lets your berbs activate 3 times in a row and higher levels if you don't like getting them. With it you can max very easily just on your way to the monster) Sunrise is also the game that encouraged me to try different weapons. The arena modes with select weapons and builds were really fun. Never would have picked up hammer from heavy bowgun and bow had that not existed! Worldborne never encouraged that for me. Too much grind and risk. (Rise basically had 0 risk.) Edit: (there's also the fact that I prefer to play these games alone than with people. Worldborne kinda punishes you for that in ways like clutch claw, safi etc. Sunbreak gives the optional followers to help out. I love them so much. Especially since they are characters in the story. But again....optional! Also like Hazard quests. They are optional too but are great if you just want a harder challenge. Speaking of....try fighting hazard Monsters with only 150 hp. World Maxes at 200 rise 250....but try Rise with 150. Then try say Hazard Malzeno at 150, no wirebugs! You can still beat him if you are good enough, but you always have the OPTION of making it easier for yourself. Sunrise is big on making the difficulty optional through im game means. Spirit birds, wirebugs, etc.)

Your first video helped to convince some of my friends to give Monster Hunter a shot and I'm glad your doing a follow up! Sunbreak has been amazing so far and it makes me really appreciate the A or B team setup the devs have used since they started doing the portable games; you get the best of both worlds of having the space to expand what Monster Hunter means without getting lost from what it started as. And even then you get some synergistic development where things done by the console developers influence the portable devs and vice verse. Gunlance was a unique one-off weapon in the lance tree back in MH1, and similarly so was Longsword within the Greatsword category. Eventually they became their own weapon types in, and I might be misremembering, MHF2 and MHTri respectively. I have high hopes for the future because the method of growing the franchise has proven over the titles to be the correct one.

I think I do agree with the idea that Monster Hunter is evolving. But, on the flipside, I think the idea that people are only complaining about the new style of combat because of some nostalgia-induced rose-tinted glasses is a bit dismissive of a valid argument. Going back to older games definitely feels *to me* like a different game. I can see why people like the new games, but I do still appreciate and miss the slower pace of the older games. I absolutely love that Capcom is pushing to make their game more accessible and much less clunky, but I think doing so by removing aspects of the game isn't the best way to go about it, despite it being a valid and correct option. The old Pokke farm was a nice relaxing break area to go to, but I will admit I wish it wasn't always necessary to go there after every hunt. I would like to see the next game hopefully strike a better balance between this faster pace and the things that made the old "clunky" mechanics charming in their own way. Anyway, lil rant over. Amazing video as always. Keep it up!

I just can't find GS fun since world, and HBG is just slower LBG now. But on the other hand SA and DB (among others) are so improved from the old styles. SA actually has morphing combos and DB is more than drinking dash juice and spamming demon dance.

I, sunbreak’s strongest fan, cannot stand for this hunting horn slander. Iceborne hunting horn was my baby and my wishlist for the entirety of rise’s lifespan has been for it to return someday though I know that’s impossible since recitals as they were wouldn’t have worked with the speed of the game. New hunting horn might have pulled in more numbers but I don’t think any of them are lasting fans and hey I don’t see lance needing a rework. Can’t remember the last time I used a blue note on a weapon that’s supposed to be about making songs with your attacks. Echo mode also isn’t really old hunting horn.

I know at this point the vid is a year and a half old but Jesus fucking Christ it is so refreshing stepping out of the World/Iceborne circlejerk and stumbling on a vid that actually appreciates that Rise doesn't want to just be more of the same. The current "popular" opinion that Rise was a filler game or a step backwards for the series has always rubbed me the wrong way. Does the game look as pretty as World? Fuck no but at the same time why does that shit matter so much when the core of the series has always been function over form. While the faster and more action oriented combat is a subjective point as to whether it's better or worse than the more methodical combat of previous titles, to just dismiss it outright after finishing low rank and calling the game "too easy" is entirely disingenuous and is in my opinion people just looking for things to dislike because we didn't get World 2. While I do agree that base Rise was rough around the edges (especially with the elders having to be patched after the fact due to the pandemic) I think Sunbreak more than made up for those shortcomings much in the same way that I feel Iceborne elevated base world from flying wyvern hunt simulator into the masterpiece it is now. The games definitely both have their pros and cons and having a preference is completely understandable due to just how different they feel to play, but to just say Rise had nothing to offer the series and write it off as a failure is so sad to me because all that does is divide a community that used to be known for our unity and collective love for a series we all just want to see improve and succeed. If you're reading this comment thanks a ton for making this video and focusing on the positive aspects of the game, I see far too few people talk about just how fun this game really is, and honestly that's all that should matter at the end of the day when playing a video game.
@supermorrisbros7850

I love Rise/Sunbreak, don't get me wrong but it's the easiest title in the series for multiple reasons and despite the combat being fun the fights are over so soon and with little effort, it's boring, I don't feel satisfied when I finish a hunt anymore. Any iconic monsters that come back in the future title updates are going to be a joke and it's sad. Palamutes are a welcome addition... but that's it, Wirebugs and Wyvern Riding are a terrible, OP mechanic that should have just been Weapon Arts.

post sunbreak and id like to say its definitely not easier, the skill ceiling is ridiculous. only low rank was easy but as soon as High and Master rank came all the so called "op maneuverability" was balanced out by the cracked out sunbreak monsters. They even have set ups that trick you into wire falling out after getting hit, only to get wrecked after. Average Hr and Mr quests in world arent like this at all and I personally find it more comfortably paced. Of course world has hard monsters as well but in general terms its actually not as high octane as rise break is. Edit: the special investigations are unnecessarily focus oriented, its hard to keep up. Especially considering how large the health pools are, by the time my mind gets exhausted thats when I start fainting. Welp, i'm gonna be that guy.. oh boy.. MH Rise was an game that i was expecting a lot since it were anounced, i was working in a factory at the time and was saving money to buy an new GPU, when i buyed it, with all that, i buyed MH World + Iceborne, and it blew my mind away, not only being an absolute upgrade from the old MH but for the entire franchise and its future. My friends, got rise on the Switch and they enjoyed the game, but, it had nothing to do in the game, and i'm talking rise when it released, the final boss of the game came via an update, and overall, was an realy small game. When peaple say that "if you take an newcomer to rise they will struggle to play it", thats an realy dumb line of thinking, we are not talkin about new peaple, any monster hunter game for a new player will be a hell hole. Rise gave a lot of resources to the hunter to overcome everything, and nothing to the monsters to balance it, before SunBreak, Rise was short on its content, and lets be honest, those who play monster hunter would not spend a 100 hours+ in the tower defence minigame. -- Rise is not easy because you played World or Iceborne, is easy because is not very challenging, and, im talking Base Game, the game has probably one of the best monster hunting action flow on the entire series, being an all skilled ninja guy hunting rathalos and magnamalo around the places is crazy fun when you use the silk skills and the wire bug. RIse has a lot of its core dificulty lowered down, thats good for new players, but, those who play monster hunter for years, off course will find it easier. The only moment that i felt truely challenged was with chaotic gore, gaismagorm, and the new update monsters, because the game all the time is just easy to just go foward. The game is good, very good, but, there are better Monster Hunters out there.

Wyvern riding is terrible it used to straight up break the flow of the hunt completely but thankfully Sunbreak made it optional but other than that it straight up nuked monster on monster interaction. Monsters just show up roar then leave or show up hit the monster once making them wyvern ride able then leave. Bazelgeuse basically doesn't have a personality anymore because of this. 2. I liked worlds environments more and how the monsters would interact with it, the worlds just felt more alive and a lot less gamey. The early game was also a bit of a snooze fest in base rise, I don't like being forced to fight 5 monsters of the same difficulty for until the next star level, I feel like world actually had a decent difficulty curve, like Anjanath being a wall for early players and he's like the 4th or 5th fight. Sunbreak fixed most of my problems with this game though beyond the initial 2. The combat is addicting as fuck. I love all the new options they gave us, the monster roster is overall pretty solid, gambling for charms is pretty fire to me. I'm very satisfied with my purchase overall. Gonna send this video to some of my friends and try to sell em on Rise lol.

I cannot understate just how many wonders rise did for the pacing of this game, lance, FUCKING *LANCE* is now able to close the gap quickly on monsters in several different ways ranging from "safe but inflexible" to "LOOK AT ME I'M FUCKIN ZOOMIN" as opposed to previous game's "charge and pray the monster doesn't hit me in the 10 year window between ending my charge and being actionable again"

talking about newcomers, my first mh was actually rise, at first I was like "oh ok this is pretty easy", oh boy that HR 2 magnamalo hub quest gave me a fucking reality check, took me 40 goddamn tries for that, ever since then magnamalo was my favorite monster cause he represented the first ever gap that I jumped, he was essentially the farthest stepping stone imaginable

Are old MH games (let's say Freedom Unite for instance) more fun than Rise? No. Is Rise more fun than Freedom Unite? Also no. They are both different kinds of fun, hardly comparable in my opinion. Honestly the 5th gen changed so much I would consider World and Rise to almost be different genres from the older titles. Also, 7 billion people on the planet guys, not everyone has the definition of "fun". For instance, I have shitty reflexes, so the slower pace and simpler moveset of Freedom Unite make it easier for me to have fun, and the fact it puts so much importance on positioning makes the strategic part of my brain happy every time I don't get hit because it means I was smart enough to be in the right place at the right moment. In Rise, repositioning is so quick and easy that dodging just isn't rewarding imho. I did clock in hundreds of hours in both Rise and Freedom Unite, but guess what? In the last few weeks I got kinda bored of Rise, so I opened my PSP emulator and had _a blast._ To me, the perfect Monster Hunter would have the movesets of 4U, but the open maps and tracking system of World. And also a new bludgeoning weapon. C'mon Capcom, where those tonfas at?

World is far closer to the older gen games than Rise. World and Rise might both be 5th Gen, but Rise is the only one that is, for all intents and purposes, a completely different game. World had heaps of QoL updates, and hunter animations/monster AI got updated, but it didn't drastically change combat - it just felt smoother.

I very much just wish that the game was less reliant on counter abilities and had the same environmental interactions that world had. The areas in Rise look good, but feel barren compared to World/Iceborne, similarly the monsters feel less like monsters with their own lives and more like things you just hit. World made them feel like actual creatures since they didn't just charge you immediately on sight (unless it's an aggressive type of monster). The interactions between monsters were more interesting rather than just luring one to another and getting a wyvern ride, people complain about clutch claw (rightfully so) but the wyvern riding loop in hunts is generally worse). The combat in Rise feels impactful and I think that's the best thing to focus on in these games, but the little details around that really take away from the experience when neglected for the sake of only the combat.

6:28 This statement is objectively false. I started with Tri so I can confidently say base Rise is significantly easier than base World since World wasn't my first game. The "YoUr FiRSt mOnStEr HuNteR Is AlWaYs tHe hArDesT" argument is getting old. Have anyone who played Rise first go back and play 4U and ask them if they think it's easier. I didn't get significantly better moving from World to Rise the game just got easier. Saying base World's difficulty was a joke is funny considering how many people couldn't get past tempered Kirin. Nothing in Base Rise did that. I also never carted in the entirety of low rank in Rise but I did in low rank World despite years of experience playing these games. And difficulty has always been a significant part of the series' identity because the difficulty encourages people to actually learn the nuances of the monsters in order to beat them which brings out each monster's unique identity. You don't get that experience when everything feels like just a punching bag. Who cares if I didn't bother to learn a monster's patterns? I can just wirefall away and heal back to full before the monster can capitalize on it's damage. The games weren't originally designed to let you approach them in such a lax manner (I have a quote from Ryozo that reinforces this) but that's what base Rise did.

Good to know my feelings between World and Rise aren't exclusive. Could swear I just watched a video ranking Rise in dead last, and as someone with absolutely no experience in this series besides Rise, World and 4 Ultimate on 3DS for 4 minutes, I figured I must just like the terrible. But anyway if the next MH game doesn't have Palamutes I'll be slightly annoyed but still play and likely enjoy it thank you Capcom.

Disagree on the combat _improvement._ Hunters have gone leaps and bounds over what the monsters gained, fights are more akin to boss rushes than the slow methodical hunts of old. Wall running is great, but, the wirebug has got to fucking go. But please bring back investigations.

8:29 also objectively false. It's actually taken away a lot of the core ideas. Like tracking for instance. The stuff you're complaining about like paintballs and scout flies were always intended to be core aspects of the series. These games aren't supposed to be mindless hacknslash games. They're supposed to be hunting simulators that create the feeling like you're actually immersed in the World. Things like wire bugs or dashing around on Palamutes are there to make you rush past everything and push you to just kill the monster as quickly as possible rather than engaging with the environment. World was an example of revamping old aspects. It turned tracking from something that felt like a chore and turned it into something more immersive and fluid by making us actually have to look for footprints (you know kinda like what you would actually be doing if you were a hunter.) Rise didn't try to improve further on the system (not saying it was perfect) and instead just removed it entirely by giving you an owl that magically communicates to you the location of monsters. Temperature management is another thing. I'm not saying cold and hot drinks are the most engaging mechanics but they're there to give the volcano and snow maps more individuality and again immersion. Rather than try to come up with a creative way to reimagine that mechanic like what World did for tracking Rise just again removed it. That fact that people like you actually praise such removals is honestly disheartening and makes me wonder if Monster Hunter is actually what you want to play and not something else. Since getting to the monster is so tedious why not just put everything in an arena then and just drop us in there with the monster? Why have sharpening anymore? It's just a tedious and clunky gameplay mechanic right? All I want is hit big monster with big stick like I can do in almost any other fantasy game am I right?

Things I hope never returns to MH that was brought into Rise: Spirit birds… Literally just don’t bring back this mechanic ever again, Capcom. Let us have perks and have the canteen still be useful please. While I like the Palamutes, I don’t like the map design that’s original to Rise at all. Say what you will about the level design in World, but at least they don’t force you to explore around the map just so you could search every sing crevasse for spirit birds. Handlers that are similar in personality to Popola and Devola (I’d say that as a joke if it weren’t for the fact there’s apparently a rumor that Yoko Taro was originally going to be a fucking writer for the game). Not having Grandma Palico in the game… Just how dare you. The game removing personalized rooms. People spamming wirebugs when being hit, resulting in them dying real quick. I honestly wished I liked this game as much as I wanted to, but this game just didn’t click with me the same way Mon Hun World did.

I still prefer Iceborne. Rise just doesn't *feel* right. 1. The impacts have no impact because instead of the blood, dust, sparks and viscera you'd see in and serotonin launching thud you'd hear in Iceborne, you're treating to the new artsytles itty bitty smudges of ketchup, accompanied by the sound of little billy smacking his Teddy Harag against his action hunter. 2. The clunk is not removed and is very much still there. The most obvious and infuriating example being the wyrmstake, which once was a quick but powerful reward for completing a full combo just in the previous game, now turned into a waiting game as you're stuck holding a giant revolver-knife for a good hour or so as the Monster has already pulled a "nothing personel kid". Though admittedly the actual aerial movement is undeniable smooth, when you're on the ground it still feels like the classic Monster Hunter slow-ness. 3. The character's skin is also a massive downgrade, as they game them smooth textures and very reflective surfaces, making any character darker than the average European or Asian look like a melting bar of chocolate/caramel. 4. The nerfed Rajang. 5. Somehow, switching the way you acquire decorations and charms has made both unbearable. 6. No Meowster Chef or Grandmeoster Chef.
