Thanks, Marcus for sharing. Being under the influence really affects who you are, how you think and any form of chemical dependence ruins lives.

My rock bottom is accepting I can’t drink The only thing worse than craving the first drink is the feeling that comes with having a drink and not being able to have another one …. Or wanting another one And if your able to drink what you want , not being able to stop The only thing that keeps me sober is that I don’t want to have to try to sober up again and drinking again isn’t going to change my cravings.

Marcus priest past (and now being less religious) makes me wonder about the spirituality question, usually what is said including by AA is that spirituality is a way out of alcoholism. I wonder if there is really less alcoholism in church as we could imagine, didn't look up for research but seems to me an interesting question...

What books can you recommend for a young christian family man in the military, deployed away from his wife and children for 9 months and drinking too much?

If you don’t have the first drink…you’ll NEVER have the second. The first is most dangerous!

@@labab1048 so true. Completed 18 dry months. Started up again on a cousin's wedding. Had a kind of bad experience or 2 there. Only a few bad incidents months back in, but contemplating leaving it alone forever or quitting family gatherings or something....not quite sure yet.

@@foyoGames Today’s alcohol consumption is tomorrow’s regret, shame, anxiety, and depression. The pain of regret hurts SO MUCH MORE than the pain of discipline! I have 2 yrs 5 months. I’ve realized that you miss the “idea” of drinking…but the payoff for great clear headed mornings wins out over time. Maybe an occasional thc gummy, for weddings, functions.

@@labab1048 you're right, wish I just would stop attending functions ...too many damn functions. Thc gummies, need to seek some other deterrents out maybe ...hmmm

@@foyoGames Don’t know if you’ve ever listened to Craig Beck, the stop drinking expert, as well? He’s really good too.
