Mounting your watercolour painting onto a cradle or cradled board is a contemporary way of displaying watercolours. By fixing it to a wood panel and sealing it with wax or varnish, you get rid of the need for glass and a frame - exposed watercolour if you like.
First you need to attach the painting to your cradled board with glue or acrylic medium, then trim it to size, before sealing with wax - I use Dorland's Wax. It’s an easy process if you take a little care, but it takes a few days because of all the drying time.
Don't be put off - the end result is fabulous!
