Just found out I'm severely deficient! I'm hoping it's one of the main causes of my autoimmune disease and that working to overcome the deficiency will see an improvement in my condition. Thank you so much for doing this!! I am a medical student perfectly aware of just how off track mainstream medicine is in actually treating disease and am hoping to one day help change that. I REALLY appreciate when people like you share this information freely and make it easily accessible. You're helping spread awareness and that is exactly what we need. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart!!!

Just a suggestion I heard it, not sure it is true or not, If u r body is not observing d efficiently, just rub u r body with coconut oil and stand in sun for 5-10 mins. One more method(very old method) take mushrooms dry it in sunlight for 4-5 days and eat them during winter after soaking in water. U can avoid tablets.

Great video! I've been reading recently that higher potassium levels in food (typically fruits from sunny regions) switches off liver release of vitamin D because there should be sufficient sunlight for adequate vitamin D. Higher sodium levels, typically associated with colder regions and the foods found there switches on higher liver storage of vitamin D and also higher release and synthesis. I was thinking this may be why some people do well as vegans and some struggle, it's to do with where they live. Almost as though we should "eat in line with the land and climate". Just wondered what your thought's were Dr. Axe? Keep up the good work buddy.

So Pls guide me Awaiting for your reply.

2:00 .............. except that in winter (when there are less leaves on the trees) there may be less hours of sunlight per day, but then there's also a LOT LESS SHADE to hide behind. Read my suggestion to "Azalea Woods" who posted a comment 5 months before this one. In spring, summer, and autumn (when it's warm enough to get outdoors for extended periods of time) find a spot where you can be "completely naked outdoors" for an extended period of time and go that route. Even if you do have to wear shoes (because the ground that your feet are on is just to uncomfortable for bare feet) get naked outdoors in direct sunlight.

I live in northern Scotland. We get a couple of weeks of moderate sun per year, the rest of the year it's dark, grey and cloudy. In fact for many months of the year, it's still pitch black when I leave for work in the morning, and it's pitch black by 3pm so I literarly see no light, ever. Our winters have minimal hours of light per day. The only sun I ever get is when I travel abroad but my skin is so pale that I end up burning after 10-15 mins of exposure, and then spend the rest of the holiday sitting in the shade. I understand the benefits of vitamin D, but sun exposure can't be quite as essential as many specialists are claiming, otherwise the entire of northern Europe would be plagued by cancer and suicide :) but we're not
@jessikapiche6097

very true, but remember. Most of North american use to eat fatty fish. We are known to love Salmon and Sea foods. Instinctively, we know that it is good for us. So yes, on the emotional level, low sun light is difficult and there is more depression in North america than there ever was. Why? Families can no longer afford Salmon. People have stop drinking milk (that was enrich with Vit D and calcium.) and more adult than ever have problems drinking the stuff... So...make the math. We now live on anti-depressant drugs.

I have been taking a Vitamin D supplement as well as a prescription strength supplement (50,000 IU twice weekly) for a year and my levels are still very low. Correction Dr. Josh Axe on this video. Vitamin D2 is not a synthetic vitamin D as you've advised. D2 is actually derived from mushroom. There are also vegan D3 forms that are derived from lichens. So D3 is not made only by animals and D2 is not synthetic as you've claimed.

Hello, Dr. Axe! I just recently started watching some of your videos because I want to lose weight and I'm mainly concerned about being healthy and eating healthy. I was vitamin D deficient three years ago so my doctor told me to take vitamin D3 pills ( supplements ). I have recently started taking vitamin D two times a day ( in the morning 3 pills of 2000 IU and at night one pill of 5000 IU ). I have also been eating and drinking ( most of the time ) mushrooms, salmon, fortified orange juice. One reason I'm concerned about it is I want to life weights to gain more muscle mass and lose weight. I'm worried that I won't grow muscles properly unless I have enough vitamin d in my body. Also, can one overdose ( take too much vitamin d ) on vitamin d where it will hurt a person ( a man )? I have worked out in the past and had good results for the most part, but I'm wondering if I could have gained more muscle had I been consuming more vitamin d and getting more sun? I don't think I was deficient in vitamin d years ago, though. Thanks for your videos. I plan on watching many more.

Just like anything else you should only supplement in small moderations. Your not going to die from taking D2 or D3 as long as you don't put so much in your body to toxify. I've taken D3 for years at 2000 IUs about three times a week and feel way better than I did before I was a little deficient . I also take Carlson fish oil with Omega about the same three times a week and I swear by it. I live in the North east and cannot stand fish products to eat so I supplement that's just me. About 6 months out of the year there is not nearly enough sunlight that can affect us over here to give us our vitamin D we need. I did start off taken 5000 Iu at first when my levels climbed to normal that's when i went down to 2000. Maybe in future will go down to 1000 iu's because it really makes me feel great. Don't listen to any of these people saying that it's going to kill you it's impossible unless you're taking a large amount at least 5 days a week I would say for a long time. If anybody has a question I can try to answer set the mind at ease because. I've been on them for a while. On a side note if you are in an area in the south or out west where you got tons of sunlight there really is no reason to supplement unless you have that much deficiency. Cheers.

Dr. Axe, I just recently got prescribed, 50'000 iu of vitamin D2 (once a week) to help out with deficiency. Why D2 over D3? And can I supplement with D3 on my own, since the D2 stuff requires a prescription?
@mouhamedlaminebah1852
8 жыл бұрын
+Manuel De Leon You should not take D2. 5000iU to 10000iU of vitamin D3/day + around 200mcg of vitamin K2/day + as Dr Axe suggest 20-30 minutes of sunlight exposure if you are white and more if you are black is the winning combo you need to overcome your vitamin D deficiency. Just google "vitamin K2 mercola" to see for yourself. As 4 me, there is no doubt it's the strategy I'm gonna take. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired.

3-4 cans of sardines/ week should get you your vitamin. I've read that we just can't get our vitamin d like we use to from the sun. Perhaps that has something to do with chemtrails blocking the vitamin D. But those cans of sardines should be sufficient

@@hayuhinaira If you're deficient, I recommend going outside AND continuing to supplement. Then, get tested again to see if your levels are up. If so, feel free to reduce supplementation and stick with going outside for half an hour today. Then, get tested again to see where your levels are and adjust your practices from there. Remember that maintaining vitamin levels isn't a one-and-done situation, it takes maintenance! 👍
