Thanks so much for this tutorial! At 74 I am finally trying my hand at needle turn appliqué. I’ve watched a lot if videos but this is the one that finally got me on the right track with your instruction about going in the right direction - so simple but so vital for success. Brilliant!

This is the first needle turned video I've watched and the first Sue Daley video for me. As I watch you needle turn the heart, I see that the back side of the heart is white. Is there a backing on the applique piece? I didn't see this info in the video.

So glad I caught your video today. I have done a lot of applique and I can see what was wrong! I was using the tip of the needle, not the side...what a difference that makes! Thanks for sharing!👏🤗💐

I’ve been trawling through hundreds of videos trying to find a demonstration of needle turn appliqué that’s as straightforward as this. Thank you, thank you, thank you. 😘

So glad I found this video. Just starting to sew a stippled quilt for my 2 year old great-grandson and I'm already stuck. I decided it would be nice to put the handprints of the mother, father, baby, grandmother and great-grandmother on the front of the quilt, yes I know, I'm nuts. Would you do the stippling before or after you put the applique on and would you place them on the fabric with fusible paper or somethng else. I'm using felt for the applique and after washing and drying it there is no pilling or shrinkage so I think that part is OK. Should I have done the work before putting on the backing? I'd love someone to give me some advise as I never had time to learn to sew until now at 77. Thank You very much

Pressing the wet glue dries it immediately, whilst not pressing takes a while to dry. 💖🌞🌵😷 p.s. don't worry it doesn't get on your iron. (I've even used Elmer's school glue... it's water soluble, meaning it washes completely out of the fabric in your next laundry.)

I am confused. You have red fabric. When drawing on it, you turned it around and the backside was also red. While cutting around it the back was white. I rewound and I still don't see if you had added some stabilizer. Where did the white background on the heart come about?

Thank you for this tutorial. I've washed several but I like yours the best. Especially when you talked about right and left handed, no one ever mentions how to work when you're a lefty like me so thank you! I do have a question, once you are done say with the applique of the heart do you then cut away the fabric in the back with a 1/8" or 1/4" from the seem on the larger pieces? Thanks

Your video helped a LOT. I have the same question Cherri asked. What type of stabilizer did you add to the back of the heart? Thank you!
