I love this channel. I have decided to take my kids out of school and homeschool them this upcoming year. Nv has fallen to dead last in the United States. I feel that they are being robbed of their education and I could do it better without them being stressed out. My only issue is doing it while being low income. Your channel gives me hope.

Lol your first tip is one I was just thinking about! I was watching another KZitem who said she gave each day’s work in a binder and i was sitting here thinking “no give the entire week so they can decide what and how much they want to do each day” If they want to do all of one subject one day and a variety the next, let them. Also had the same thought about taking apart workbooks lol. Love the way you have organized your stuff! Thank you for sharing this with others!

You have me so excited about getting organized!! My oldest is 4.5 and we're just embarking on this crazy journey. I'm also really interested in that handwriting curriculum you mentioned. Just a thought about the folders coming in 100s...if for example you're using the left sided red tabs for one child, take the right sided red tabs and turn them "inside out" - you've just doubled the number you can get from one box! :) Obviously for your poor middle tab child, you're stuck.

OMG I have to check out your blog, I have 5 children and 4 will be doing school this year, two are still young I have a preschooler and a first Grader. Then two older a 4th grader and 8th grader. This past school year I really tried to organize with a check board and it was an epic fail. I end up with piles of books all over my kitchen, I am going to do the crate system, Thank you so much for sharing your gift of organizing.

I find binding all subjects in one single book for each quarter works well for my family. My girls like having a single book for all their subjects. They also like having a simple visual of how far along we are through the school year. After they finish 1st quarter they can easily see that they are 1/4 of the way through the school year. I bind at home with a simple comb binding machine.

This is our tenth year of homeschooling and I wish I has found your box system years ago. I was just diagnosed with a chronic pain issue and I have to simplify my life. This is our second week with the system and I am amazed. It has cut down on time I need to plan for every week. I have matched that with the work box system and it is fantastic. I had a high pain day on Thursday and my son was able to grab all of his work and we did school from my bed. Thank you for sharing your awesome system.

if you use the pro clip binding system, you can simply print new pages and add them in. need to look into the hanging file system. what we used last year, and haven't this year, is I made a check list for my daughter of all the subjects, I put a dot on the subjects I planned to cover, and put an x when I actually finished them. helped me see if I was planning more than we could handle, and I could fit a few weeks on one page.

Thanks for this help! I came across it at the beginning of this school year (2016-17) and it has been SO helpful. I have used your check list idea. I modified some of the rest of it. We've got the hanging file folders by week like you suggested. And inside the hanging files the color coded files by kid. Then I color code subject with different color paper clips and leave incomplete work in the hanging files. At the end of the week we move each kid's work into their binder. I separate work in the binder by subject with color coded tabs to match the paper clips. It's been a huge help for our organization this year! Thanks again.

The money you have to spend after that will be science experiment resources, which they give you a link to, and printer paper and ink. I only print in black and white. 🎉I know a lot of people put the entire week of all subjects into one week- but then the child would have to figure out out to separate the daily papers between subjects- as they’re all mashed together. I like the idea of separating out daily work with all daily subjects into the weekly file by days into folders. Or at least- separating the subjects in folders into a weekly file- then the child knows to pick one paper from each folder of the week daily.

Thank you so much for this video. I am a thirteen year old 8th grader and I am sick of the education I'm getting here in northern Virginia, I don't feel like I'm learning and it obviously isn't the best way for each person to learn. I'm begging my parents to homeschool me next year (when I'll be a freshman) so I can see wether or not homeschooling is something I can look at pursuing all throughout high school. Anyways this video just inspired me and helped me get a look inside homeschooling! Thanks again :) (also you have such a great personality and are great in front of the camera!)

SO! I love this method so much I use it for my girls and tweaked the folder system just a bit since my children are 3rd grade and K-5. I just posted a video about it and mentioned you and linked this video in the description. :)

TFS! I really like the crate idea. How do you handle checking their work? Just wondering if you do it daily or if you do it at the end of the week....Thanks again.

+ben YACOB I try to grade it regularly. I check to be sure they are doing it daily. End of the week would be ideal to grade their work, but I honestly get behind with grading. I can tell if they are struggling with concepts, so that's when I sit with them and help them through.

Thank you for your videos. They are of great help. I have a few questions I hope you can help me with please. 1. How do you get the guts to tear up a book to put it into your Crate System? And what if certain lessons overlap on one page? 2. What grammar program do you use for first grader? 3. Where / how can I get a copy of your checklist? Thank you

Tanya Dembovsky Hi there! I'm so glad my videos are helping. 1) Your first question made me laugh. I just go for it & rip them out. If it is an overlapping lesson, then I just stick all the pages for that week in the folder. I sometimes put a sticky note on the lesson if it needs to be transferred into the following week. If every page is like that, then I might not tear it up. Our Bible & writing curriculum stay put together. So I don't tear everything apart. :) 2) I don't really do grammar until my kiddo is 10. I think that is what Charlotte Mason suggests. But we are reading and doing copywork, so that kinda "teaches grammar." I will say that I do like Rod & Staff's English book. It is really sweet & simple! It was just a bit too teacher intensive for me with so many littles. :) 3) As for my checklist, I don't have it available -- yet! My hubby has been encouraging me to put something together. I just have to figure out how to un-personalize it. So, hopefully I'll have it available some day {soonish}. :) I have several other projects I have to get done first. :) Hope that helped! So glad you enjoyed my videos! I love encouraging and helping other moms! :) Blessings and joy! Kristi
