Since I've been suffering with depression for a few years and saw my productivity as a huge challenge I've learned a lot through my mom. She use to advice me to focus on one thing at a time. For example, I found it really hard to look at my extremely cluttered closet, but if I focused on just the socks, I could get it done easily and maybe even take the next step, such as just shorts or just shirts. It's kind of hard to explain it, but it just seems much more manageable to only focus on that one task instead of too much. Kind of like the example you gave with the big tasks and forget about the small ones.

Thank you for that information. One thing at a time sounds great. I've been suffering from depression myself and I find that I quit overwhelmed at times, so this is the advise I needed. Thank you, God Bless.

I used the timer method to motivate myself to finish my doctoral project in grad school. I would work for 40 mins, then break for 20 mins. I would often find that if the 40 mins was up and I was in the middle of a task, I would just finish the task before taking the break. It worked great for a notorious procrastinator like myself. Great tips! Thanks for sharing. :)

This helped me so much. I got my whole house cleaned and organized. Now I have a cleaning routine every morning. It has made things so much easier to clean a little everyday and so far nothing gets super dirty or messy. We even cleaned out the garage. Still have some organizing to do in there but now we can walk in there easily. I make my bed every morning when I wake up,it's been really nice. My husband loves this too.

Love the tips, I should try the timer technique when I'm procrastinating. There are a LOT of small cleaning projects that can get done in a short amount of time that I just procrastinate but it feels so much better to get them done. The biggest tip I've learned is the "touch it once" technique... let's say you get the mail (or email!) and you start opening it, and there's a bill and a magazine and junk mail and whatever else, you don't just put them back in a pile and not do anything with it. If you open the bill, pay it... schedule the payment, write the check, etc right then and there. If you can't read the magazine immediately, put it where it belongs (next to the bed or whatever), throw the junk mail away immediately, don't put it down and have to come back to it again. I've found ways to incorporate this into many things in my life (like the dishes!) and just getting things done right away so they don't pile up as much.

I use the timer method in a slightly different way, but it has always worked for me too! Maybe it's the athlete in me, but I have always found that if I am being lazy and unproductive I set a timer for 5-10 minutes and only allow myself that much more time to be a loaf. The counting down is almost like getting ready to start a game or workout and I can feel myself getting hyped to do the most boring tasks like the laundry or a paper. Sounds funny, but it gets me up! Loved the video and I also love my Erin Condren planner too!

I'm in love with my Plum Paper planner, it really helps me sort out what I need to do big picture wise (monthly) and then break down for weekly goals which I then break down small things I want to get down. It's so helpful when you are trying to drop weight too not just for exercise, but for keeping me accountable for what I eat especially at lunch because at work I am a creature of convenience. Great video, I really liked your tips :)

you're right, although I'm a fan of paper planners, I have to admit that a digital calendar is super useful: when I'm out at a networking event and I manage to get a meeting with a prospect I easily find a free spot without the back and forth of emails.. Google Calendar is the best, it syncs with everything. Having a routine is also a really good tip, as it helps you getting into the flow of the day.

I like your tips. I use Tide as a timer when I need focus as the timer A) notices when I do something else and stops the timer when you do so, for me, it helps me to not get side-track because it clearly shows in the app statistic etc. B) You can choose different soothing music to have in the background. C) it gives you kinda automatically a 5 min break before next "session". It's supposed use the "pomodoro" technique but you can other intervalls than 25/15 min.

Even without a dishwasher putting the dishes in the sink is a real pain and waste of time because you have to reach under and crash ll of the dishes to put the plug in. And All of the dishes are usually not stacked well so they have to be stacked better when doing the dishes and all of the silverware is just every where in the sink rather than stored in a cup by the sink. Something I do for creating a new habit and making it easier to integrate into my life is making alarms. It could be for anything. It helps to write things down in daily planners but the alarm holds you more accountable. Choosing a nice sounding alarm helps! If a person has trouble scheduling time to meditate a person could make an alarm for "Get Yourself Ready For Meditation". That means your giving yourself time to switch from what your doing to get all the things you need to do it and then set the alarm for when to begin. It can be used for when to be in bed by so that you give yourself plenty of time to fall asleep by a certain time. Or if having trouble putting writing, art or other creative activities into the day to not just write it down in a planner but set an alarm. But having a few too many alarms at once to create new daily habits of productivity can make you feel like your on a leash so I recommend starting with the most important one or three things first.

Love your tips !!! I use the counting method. For example: if i need to laundry or fold clothes or put dishes up I will tell myself count to 100 and by the time you have reached 100 you will done. Today I had to wash my hair and I said count to 50 and then you are done shampoo your hair. It's a good way to motivate me but also its a good way to keep me on track and I'm not wasting time shampooing my hair for 5 minutes! Lol.

I used to prefere paper callenar but now I know that the best organizing tool in the world is google callendar app. I'm pretty sure that there is something similiar for iphones. You can esily provide google callenar on your laptop and phone, set timers etc, it's also wonderful for setting routines and to control your time. It works great for me because I always have my phone with me, so everytime I remember about something or I want to check my timetable, I can do it easily.
