I have a flight tomorrow and this is the first time going on a flight with my anxiety. I have been on planes so many time when I was little but when I started getting into my teens and Highschool my anxiety went sky high. So seeing videos of people explaining their anxiety and helping others for traveling makes me feel so seen and heard because you see others being like you and make me feel so much better that I’m not the only one. My mom doesn’t get the anxiety for planes thing because we’ve been traveling since I was little and I never was scared so seeing people say it’s okay to feel like this and not tell me to suck it up and that I’ve been doing this so it shouldn’t scare me. This makes me feel so much better

Circle:) great video! You can do it! Funny.. I got back yesterday from my first flight trip since dealing with anxiety. I made it too! I saw this come up and thought shoot! I wish I'd had this last week :) but this was great. A few things I've also tried to do is attempt a short trip first vs longer... prove you will be ok and build up confidence. I also love when possible to do driving trips with my dog... what a comfort! I love the rituals also... I have my downloaded relaxation music so I don't have to worry about lack of phone connection, and play it and read a few pages each night just like I do at home. This trip I made it more structured so I didn't have as much stress there trying to figure out what to do. However, for me it's a fine line of good planning vs feeling trapped. So another thing I've even done (even tho it sucks $ wise) is book something to do on a trip.. but give myself permission to decide not to and lose the $. I also have special objects with meaning I take along...small trinkets. Have a great trip!!! Thank you for your posts.

Addie McLaurin great idea! I hate the feeling of being “trapped” too. I’ve gotten added on to the rental car, just so I can go on rides before. I would get claustrophobic in the house. Congrats on the flight!!! Relaxing music is awesome. And I’ve been on a plane with an airline that had guided meditation built into the TV. It worked so well, it put me to sleep, TWICE!!! So that’s another idea. I’m sure there are guided meditation apps and/or video you can download to help relax as well. I also always travel with my sleep music/sounds app. I can create music or nature sounds, or a mix depending on my mood. And anything with deep breathing or seated “yoga” for planes can help. I carry lavender oil for emergencies too. I have my medication for last resort, but tend to do find unless it’s a very long flight. Getting a window seat also helps me not feel so trapped, even if that means not sitting with my group.

Yogic breathing also always help me too... longer exhales and shorter inhales... :)

Addie McLaurin YES! I love my citrus oils & I’m using a cypress oil. I’ll have to look for a cedar. I love my oils. I have a light up diffuser for my room too. If you don’t have one, I highly recommend. And if you LOVE them, my mom even bought a travel version. I just don’t have the $ for that though. I mix my cypress, “holiday mix” and a citrus (tangerine is usually closest), and love that in my diffuser. It’s doterra, but I’ll use any kind in my diffuser, that’s just what I’ve been gifted the most of. Holiday mix by them smells really good! Best of luck on your future travels! The internet (and YT) can be a great place!!!! Look forward to seeing you around. I just found the channel a few weeks back! 💙🌷✌🏼

I've never thought of myself as having anxiety, but I have been procrastinating on planning my next overseas solo trip because of many things going wrong on my last one, including being hospitalised for pancreatitis, my baggage not arriving, spraining my elbow after tripping over, and missing connections due to trains running late, not to mention Covid making travel plans precarious these days. It was a horrible lesson to learn. My body is so weird... I wish that would help me, but I take Benadryl and 5-HTP instead. We are all our own guinnea pigs, some things work great on some, not on others. There's always other options, and I'm glad I found mine, don't give up hope if one or another thing doesn't work! Most of my family can't take Benadryl because it keeps them awake, with me, it's a life saver! I'm glad you threw in drinking and eating here too, that can turn out to be a disaster in the making! Thank you so much for this video, I watched the whole thing until the end and actually took notes on my phone for an upcoming trip. I[ve been anxious my entire life and have recieved therapy for it which helped alot but it always manages to rear its ugly head again at times, esp when I'll be traveling. I literally plan on using all of the tips you mentioned and really think it will help me to be calm and happy not only for myself but for my family as well.

As you speak I just tear up and cry because I started a new job and my anxiety has resurfaced.. I mean it’s always there but it’s bothering me and making me feel so restricted traveling feels so hard
